"Good morning."
"Good morning," I smiled, waving at the random lady that spoke to me.
I flashed my student ID to the desk assistant and made my way down the hall to the elevators. It was 10am on a Sunday, so most students were still sleeping in or getting breakfast in the dining hall, but I was headed up to Nicki's dorm with breakfast from Leo's Coney Island and some flowers. After talking to Kelly and Megan yesterday, I felt kind of bad.
I genuinely didn't remember much of my night with Nicki because I was so drunk, but I really hoped I wasn't acting like a stereotypical fuck boy by kicking her out the next morning and telling my friends that she and I were just chilling. That wasn't my character. I was a lover girl, honestly, and I hoped that Nicki could see that. I wanted to apologize if I made her feel bad, and I wanted us to spend our Sunday together. Truth be told, I was nervous, though. Nicki was such a firecracker. She would probably curse me clean out.
I finally made it to her floor and realized I had no idea what dorm she stayed in. Luckily, the RAs had monthly themes that included putting cute little name tags on the residents' doors. This month's theme was turkeys. Cliche, but cute. I looked at each door before coming upon one that had two cute little handcrafted turkey name tags that read "Onika M." and "Lauren L." taped to it. I took a deep breath and knocked.
A few seconds passed with no answer before I knocked again.
"Lauren, bitch, get the door!"
"Bitch you get it!"
"No, I'm laying down!"
I smiled a little hearing Nicki's voice inside. I hadn't seen her since yesterday morning when we were hungover and yelling at each other. I wondered if she was feeling better today. There was shuffling on the other end of the door before I heard the locks turn and it finally opened.
A pretty girl stood on the other side in a pair of mix matched pajamas. She was super pretty with long black hair and deep dimples. She kind of looked like Nicki. I remembered her a little bit from when I first met them. I was pretty sure this was Lauren - the best friend who was spreading my business around campus.
"Oh," she said, putting her hand on her hip.
"Um, hi," I said, feeling a little nervous now. "I'm here for Nicki."
"Mhm."
She stepped aside to let me in. I walked in and took a second to look around their dorm. It was super girly and smelled really good. Everything was pink. The couch cover, the pillows, the art on the walls, the rugs, the fake flowers. Everything.
"Nicki, you got company!" Lauren shouted, shutting the door.
She walked past me before looking back. "Oh, I forgot I'm supposed to apologize to you. Sorry for spreading rumors about you, but after the shit you pulled yesterday morning? You kinda deserved it."
