A/N: I know HTTYD fan fictions are not really famous anymore but I'd be excited if I could reach 1K reads, EVEN just 1K! Maybe I'd update more frequently if so. Also English is not my first language and I did NOT look through this, so sorry for any mistakes!
H's POV:
' ' Hiccup Haddock! — Let's go! ' '
My fatter is the mayor of the City of Berk, the capital state for the Archipelago. I was young then, maybe 11, when he had rushed off to the office, forcing me and my mother to hurry up. I wasn't focusing then, probably too busy playing with toy animals. Then I heard the word ' dragons '. I immediately jumped up from the ground, and held over the edges of the long table to see pictures of dragons. Sketched-out dragons possibly. My father held hands under his chin, while my mother had hers over her mouth. What was wrong? Dragons are cool, fast and fun to be with!
' ' Stay here, Astrid. ' '
Astrid... That's a peculiarly name, but a beautiful one. And must to say that my name is Hiccup... I heard the doors to the office my parents when to clanging, and that's when I saw her. Beautiful golden hair, bright blue eyes and such a kind and sweet smile.
' ' Hi...! ' '
I went to talk to her. She looked at me and her brows furrowed for a second, before she had that warm smile on her again. Before she said:
' ' Hello, Hiccup! ' '
' ' How do you know my name? ' '
' ' Your dad is the mayor, silly! I must know your name by then! ' '
' ' Oh... Right...! ' '
' ' You're kind of funny.. What do you think they are talking about? ' '
' ' Shh... You must not tell anybody this, but it's dragons...! I heard them say it just now! ' '
' ' Really?!? I love dragons! ' '
' ' Me too! ' '
' ' What's your favourite? Mine must have to be a wyvern! ' '
' ' I rather mine have four feet... ' '
We both laughed. Even the worried sounds and mutters from the adults couldn't bother nor stop us from finding ways to meet each other. And everyday comes by, I get closer to her to the point she makes me turn scarlet when she does something other than talking. Maybe tucking her hair or even just smiling.
Time really does go by, in a year or two, I was forced by my father to train. Train for self-discipline. Train for self-defence. Due to all of that, I had to abandon Astrid, all because my father was still worried about this dragon issue. I couldn't really tell what was so huge about it then, but as I grew older I started realising. I soon understood why my father had forced me to undergo a lot of training, as the mayor's son. Yet I still feel a sting of guilt having to go through the memories of me leaving her.
I'm sorry, Astrid.
