Autumn was a quiet child and always had been, many likened her to Wednesday Addams as it seemed her interests were far from what you would expect from a girl her age. Aut grew up very introverted and was normally found huddled up in her room reading, the auburn haired girl had never been fussed by making friends, she liked her own company and the peace it gave her. As she reached her teens she would often go and sit in graveyards, she found the silence and solitude comforting. She would read a book and write in her journal while she listened to the wind rustling through the trees, despite her antisocial personality she still secretly had crushes here and there, each written into her diary with hearts drawn around them.
The current person who had caught the young girls attention was a boy in her year called Kyle. He was popular and loud, the complete opposite of her which truthfully was probably what caught her attention in the first place. Autumn had never seen any chance of them becoming more than classmates as his status in their school wouldn't be seen near the likes of the youngest Knight. Aut would often find herself daydreaming as she wrote out the words "Mrs Autumn Killaman" through pages upon pages of her beloved journal. The girl was completely fearless yet the thought of anyone finding her book and reading the contents filled her with a pit of anxiety.
One day her worst fears came true, she had arrived back from school and noticed her room looked different yet chose to take no notice of it. The young girl sat on her bed and reached for the locked box under it only to find it had been opened and her journal was gone. Autumn knew her dad would search her room every once in a while in hopes of finding something to use against her as punishment, all she could do was hope he would only threaten her with it and never read it.
Autumn went to school the next day, the corridors flooded with her excited peers, every single one of them gushing about prom. The sixteen year old opened her locker when she saw a black envelope sitting on top of her books, she opened it carefully and began to read what it said. The smile that appeared on her face was new to her, the note was from Kyle telling her he would pick her up at six on the night of prom. That day Autumn rushed home and asked her monster of a father if she could go and buy a dress, Roger looked at her shocked by her sudden change of opinion about the event yet happily handed her his credit card before returning back to his computer. The young girl went from shop to shop searching for the perfect thing to wear it was in her last destination that she saw it. She didn't even have to think twice before buying it on the spot. The dress was long with a corset top, black and lace it was as though it was designed just for Aut.
Prom came around quickly and Autumn had spent all day getting ready. The last few weeks she had used all her free time learning how to do her own hair and makeup due to having no one to help or do it for her, it was times like this that the young girl really missed her mother. As soon as she was ready she sat with a book watching the clock intensely as it hit six she heard a knock on her door. She rushed down the stairs to open it when her eyes met with her brothers, he had dead flowers in his hand. Her stomach flipped and she ran back upstairs locking herself in her room, she heard her brother calling after her but she didn't care he'd pranked her in the worst way possible.
The young girl slumped onto her floor with her back pressed against the wall, the lump in her throat was impossible to ignore and she felt tears pooling in her eyes. Autumn wasn't one to cry but this time she couldn't help it, she just let it happen silently sobbing until she had no tears left.
