His Human Mate

Chapter 2.

I slammed my hand onto my phone alarm multiple times, not wanting to leave the comfort of my own bed. Getting up and sliding open my closet door after taking a well needed shower, I searched for an outfit appropriate for fall weather.

My outfit consisted of a caramel pleated skirt, paired with a thick brown sweater and my converse high tops. Adding small accessories i chose a silver necklace with a heart, some pearl white bracelets and a white ribbon to spruce up my half up half down curly brown hair.

After quickly brushing my teeth I went downstairs and made some breakfast. Walking to the door I checked my phone, 8:30 am. Mom wasn't up yet so I grabbed my keys and backpack ready to leave for work, which was conveniently only a 15 minute walk from my house.

Opening the door to my workplace also known as Palms Paradise which was one of the best bars in my area. I had been working there as a server since I turned 18. I needed a high pay job for all the bills and other things to get by.

I was greeted by my colleague Mark, he was 21 and worked as a bartender here. Today it was our job to restock alcohol, snacks, pop and get glasses set up on the counter, we also had to make sure the entire bar was clean. My shift was now over at 5 pm and I was ready to go home. Packing up my stuff ready to leave when Mark stopped me just before I left.

"Your mom called, she really needs to speak to you, she said it's urgent." He handed me the phone.

"Mom whats going on are you okay, why did you call the work phone and not my cell ?" I asked worried

"I knew you were busy at work but it's important. Theres a man here looking for you, it's your grandfather Delilah."

I stared at the floor in shock, I didn't know I had a grandfather.

"Yeah okay I'll be there soon." I quickly grabbed my things without saying a word to Mark I rushed out the door to get home.

I shut my house door behind me not even taking off my shoes. There in my living room sat my grandfather, he then spoke.

"Delilah, lovely to meet you, i'm your grandfather, my name is Paul. Your father was my son. I heard about you a few weeks ago and decided to pay you a visit."

I looked at him with confusion, I hadn't heard of my father in years, he abandoned me when i was really young.

"What do you want ?" I asked taking a seat on my couch across from him.

"I would like to offer you to come stay with me, your mother's medical bills will all be taken care of by me. As your grandfather I would of course like to help you, if you'll accept."

"What about work and college ?" I questioned.

"You can still go if you wish, I have a driver that will take you."

I paused, looking over to my mother, she nodded at me in acceptance.

"Okay i'll do it, but, my mother has to be your top priority, she has to have the best help." I requested.

"Yes of course. Now come along we must go, you shall pack and meet me in the car with your mother."

It was now almost 8 pm. I had finished packing and was now helping load my things as well as my mother's into the car. I had no idea where we were going but I hoped for the best with my new knowledge of my grandfather. We were all now seated in the car, ready for the journey to my new home.
