Instead of asking Victorique what was wrong or what was exactly going on, I handed my handkerchief to her and said, “I’m always here Victorique. I will always be.”

Victorique stared at me with bubbly eyes and rose-filled cheeks. Her tears suddenly slipped from her eyes and I could see that she was blushing at what I’ve said, and seeing that, it made my heart feel a bit lighter.

“Hey, Victorique, tell me your problems if you have time.” I told her with a wink.

“As if.” She started, “No master would ever share their problems to their slaves. You might as well get lost, Kujo.”

I felt so happy. “At last, she’s back to her normal self now.” I told myself, watching Victorique wipe her tears using the hanky I handed over to her a moment ago. “Pretty cute huh.” I whispered again to myself.

Victorique turned her head to me and said, “What? What’s with your filthy eyeballs staring at me and your filthy mouth blabbing words that are not understandable by the human tongue?”

“EH?! After all this effort I’ve put to comfort you you’re still going to insult me?!” I replied half-heartedly, knowing that I’m already used to her way of talking towards me. I sighed and scratched the back of my head.

“Heh. So all of this was part of your plan. You plan to give me your dirty hanky that is not even washed or dried well to comfort me? Don’t joke around.” She said wearing a straight and irritated face.

“That is not dirty! I wash it after use you know.” I started, “Anyway, keep it.”

Victorique gave me that fragile look again, and then she said, “So you’re letting me keep this so that I could-” She was about to hand back my hanky to me when I interrupted and said, “It’s because I don’t know when you’re going to cry again. Who knows, maybe I will not be there. But I’ll do my best to be there whenever you’re down and crying. I’m doing this not because I’m your slave, but because you are an important person to me, Victorique.”

I could see the happiness in her eyes. It seemed like it was the first time she heard somebody say this. I continued, “You could share anything with me Victorique, I’m not going to close my ears to you. I will listen to you, laugh with you and stay with you. You won’t be feeling alone again. You won’t be fighting your loneliness alone Victorique. I‘m here.”

I could see her tears fall again but she stopped it by wiping it away even before it touches her rosy cheeks. “S-Stop that. Kujo.”

I felt happy that time. I know this was the right decision to do after all. I felt like I’ve met her for a purpose. That is, to become her sunshine when it rains, to become her light when she finds herself in darkness and to become her friend who will be willing to sacrifice anything just to be with her in everything that goes on in her life.
