A/n:
Just to let you all know memories and flashbacks are in italics. Anyways, enjoy!
Melissa's POV:
It was 8am and my alarm to wake up had just just gone off so I headed to Lily's room to tell her I had to leave and wasn't going to be seeing her for a long time. I didn't tell her last night because she got home late due to her ballet class. To be honest I don't think she's going to take the news well.
I knock on her bedroom door and she replies with, "Come in!" I go in and see that she's pretty much ready for school. She's always been a lot more organised than me, even though she's only 12. "Hey Lily, I need to tell you something," I start, "I'm not actually your sister and I'm moving to LA today. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, I was only told yesterday and you seemed really tired after your ballet class so I decided to do it now." She stares at me with a confused look and replies, "Mel, this better be some weird late April fools thing your doing or else I'm going to beat the living shit out of someone." I don't respond which probably gave her the answer to what she said. "Why?" she asks visibly upset. "Some bullshit program I was in contract has ended so I'm being sent 'home'," I reply making air quotes on 'home'.
Lily has just cried for 10 minutes straight. I knew she wouldn't take it well. And now I'm getting ready so that I can get out the door on time when I'm picked up by Matt and Marylou. I packed my belongings yesterday so I don't need to do that now.
9am rolls around and I hear the doorbell ring. I slip on my shoes, grab my suitcase and head downstairs. I say goodbye to my foster parents and give them a hug and since Lily had already gone to school I gave her a hug and told her I loved her and would miss her before she headed off. I open the front door and greet Matt and head to the car. Once we get to the airport we get checked in and go through security. We then headed to our flight but Marylou was getting on a different flight because she was going back to Boston.
Time skip to when Nick and Chris get them from the airport:
We are walking through the airport to the pickup area when Matt spots Nick and Chris standing by a car. I think it's them at least because they look really similar to Matt. Matt starts leading me towards the car and once we get there he says, "Hey guys, here's Melissa." They both look up at the same time and one of them smiles and says, "Hi you might not remember me but my name is Chris." "And I'm Nick," the other one adds. I smile and nod but don't say anything. "You aren't the pocket rocket I remember," Chris says and laughs slightly. I suddenly remember something. Very vividly.
It's a warm sunny day and me and a 7 year old Chris are dancing to 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' by the Clash. "You got them moves pocket rocket!" Chris says happily. I giggle and continue to clumsily dance as toddlers do. Chris was the only one of my brothers that called me 'pocket rocket'. 2 months later I was sent away and started the program for gifted children.
My jaw almost drops to the floor. Chris's smile fades. "Did I do something? I'm sorry if I did," Chris says concerned. I gather myself and reply, "No, I just remember something. It was a good thing though." I smile and it wasn't a fake one this time. Which hasn't happened in a while. "Okay," He continues smiling again. 'I wish I could always feel that happy' I think to myself.
Time skip to when they are at the triplets' house:
I've been shown to my room and now I'm unpacking my things. After about 15 minutes I've finished unpacking so I head downstairs as I don't know what else to do. I'm greeted by Chris who's sitting at the kitchen table. I go and sit across from him because I don't know where else to be. He puts his phone down and says, "So, tell me a bit about what's happened in the last 14 years." I feel like I've been put on the spot like teachers do when you don't have your hand up for a question. "Umm..." I'm stalling at this point because my brain has just gone blank. "I have a little sister?" I say it like a question because I don't know if that's the kind of answer he wanted. "Cool, what's her name?" he asks. He seems genuinely interested in what I have to say. "Lily." I'm not very good at small talk. "Anything with you?" I ask. "Well me, Nick and Matt have a Youtube channel with 7 million subscribers," he replies. "Oh that's pretty cool," I say.
We've been sitting in silence for 5 minutes now. I feel like that happens a lot when I speak to people. But I do actually want to continue our conversation and tell him I remember him more than the others. "Chris?" I start. "Yeah?" he responds. "I kind of remember you. More so than I do Matt and Nick," I say. "Aw that's really sweet. Is there any specific memories you have?" he asks with a big smile on his face. "Yeah, there's one with me and you dancing to 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' and you tell me that I got them moves. Your words not mine. And you call me pocket rocket. I also remember that you were the only person to ever call me pocket rocket." He's just sitting there smiling now. "I wish you never had to leave in the first place you know," he says. "I kind of wish that too but if I never left I would have never met Lily and she means the world to me," I'm kind of just rambling at this point but that's okay because Chris actually seems interested in what I have to say.
Chris's POV:
Melissa and me have been talking with each other for about an hour now. At the moment she's telling me about Lily and how much she misses her already. It's really nice to just listen to her talk and tell me about things again. When we were younger she would always tell me everything. Even though she was only 2 at the time she always had a lot to say. She also always had so much energy. That's why I called her pocket rocket. I'm actually really glad she remembers me calling her that, it means a lot to me.
Author Speaks!
Hi guys! This one was a bit longer than normal because I had a lot of motivation. But that's not a bad thing. Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed this chapter and as usual I will get the next chapter out as soon as I can. It might be later tomorrow evening because it's like 1am rn. I tend to do a lot of my writing in the evening.
Stay safe and remember to drink water! :)
Bye!
