Monaco 10th june 2019
Her whole body felt horrible, aching and raw, like she was breaking apart from the inside out.
Every hit made it worse, the pain layering on top of itself until it was all she could feel.
The room spun around her.
The door slammed open with such force that it cracked against the wall.
Liv and Max stormed in.
Max froze for half a second as his eyes landed on Dylan, half-dressed, towering over Emma's limp, exposed body.
Bruises were already forming on her stomach, and blood trickled down her neck.
Her wide, tear-filled eyes flickered weakly toward him.
"You sick-" Max growled, his voice trembling with rage.
In two strides, he reached Dylan and yanked him off the bed.
"What the hell?!" Dylan shouted, stumbling back before Max's fist connected with his face.
"Get off of her?!" Max roared, punching him again.
Dylan tried to block the next hit but failed
miserably as Max's knuckles landed against his jaw.
Blood splattered from Dylan's nose, dripping down his face.
"Max, stop!" Liv screamed, rushing to Emma's side.
She draped a blanket over her, carefully lifting Emma into a sitting position.
"Emma, it's okay. We've got you," Liv whispered, her voice shaking as she looked at her friend's bruised skin and trembling frame.
Emma's fingers twitched slightly, her body was still uncooperative.
She blinked slowly, trying to focus, but everything was still blurry.
She could faintly hear the chaos unfolding around her-Max's shouts, the sound of flesh meeting flesh, and Dylan's weak attempts to fight back.
"You think you can do this and get away with it?!" Max yelled, throwing Dylan against the wall.
"You think you can touch her?!"
Another punch. Then another.
Dylan's head lolled to the side, his face swollen and bloodied.
"Max, stop! You're going to kill him!" Liv yelled again.
She looked at Emma, her own hands shaking as she held her upright. "Emma, can you move? Can you stand?"
Emma's lips parted, and a faint, cracked sound came out.
She tried to nod but managed only the smallest tilt of her head.
"Max, please!" Liv shouted again.
She turned to look at him as he landed another brutal blow to Dylan, who now barely had the strength to defend himself. "Stop it! Max, listen to me!"
"He deserves worse," Max hissed.
He lifted Dylan by his collar, slamming him back against the wall.
"Max, she needs you more than you need to hit him right now!" Liv screamed, her words finally breaking through.
Max froze, his fists clenched and bloodied.
His eyes flicked to Emma, her fragile body barely held up by Liv.
The anger on his face softened just slightly.
"I'll kill you if I ever see your face again," Max spat, his voice ice-cold as he dropped Dylan to the floor like garbage.
