Everything had been going so well, and then Wonwoo was in handcuffs, in the back of a van, flanked by military police.

His jaw was bruised, his shoulder ached from where it had been wrenched, and the cuffs were too tight on his wrists.

All in all, he’d had better days.

Any chance you’re going to tell me how long we’ll be stuck in the back of this vehicle for?

Nothing he’d said so far had elicited any answers. He knew they were military police from their uniforms, but he had no idea where they were taking him or what would happen to him there.

Just in case it escaped your eagle eyes,” he added. “I’m pregnant. Something to keep in mind next time you’re manhandling me around the place.

That got a flicker of a reaction from the alpha officer on his right, who pulled his radio from his belt and spoke into it in a low tone. The radio cracked to life a moment later, the words barely decipherable.

You’ll be medically assessed on arrival,” the officer said to him, tucking his radio away again.

I should probably point out the whole pressure on my bladder thing from the babies means I’ll need a comfort break soon.

Neither officer seemed happy to hear that.

Hey, if you’d arrested me on the way out rather than on the way in, this would not be an issue. It’s not my fault.

Be quiet,” the second officer said while the first reached for his radio again.

The motion of the van was making him nauseous, which didn’t bode well, so he closed his eyes and tried to think of something that wasn’t the impending doom they were driving toward. Naturally, that was all he could think about.

His biggest worry was that he would be within reach of his old team. They had lessons they’d want to impart on him, but maybe not as much as they wanted him out of the way.

Why did the army have to come find him? He was safer lost.

The van came to an abrupt stop, and the back doors opened.

Out,” the officer to his left said, taking him by the arm and pulling him to his feet.

What did we just talk about? There’s no need for the manhandling. I’m not resisting.

Quiet.

He clambered out awkwardly with his hands cuffed behind him. The world did a somersault as his feet landed on solid ground once more. He bent at the waist and threw up, gagging at the unpleasant taste in his mouth. The officers made sounds of disgust and backed off. When the retching stopped, and Wonwoo could breathe again, he spoke.

Sorry, morning sickness is ten times worse for me in a moving vehicle. I don’t suppose you’ve got any ginger ale?

He lifted his head slowly, meeting the eye of the officer who’d gone for his radio earlier. He was an alpha, his companion a beta. It made sense that the alpha would react more strongly to the idea of a pregnant omega. It brought out an instinctive protectiveness, and Wonwoo was happy to use it to his advantage right then.

The alpha stared at him for a long moment, and then moved around behind him, loosening the cuffs. He freed one hand, leaving the other bound. “Turn around.

Wonwoo moved as instructed, holding out his freed wrist for the alpha to cuff again. Hands bound in front was infinitely better than behind.

The alpha gestured to the trees behind them. “Two minutes. We don’t stop again until our destination. Don’t move beyond the tree line.
