Y/N

7/1/2020

The first day of summer was finally here, and Y/N felt the lightness of it from the moment he stepped out of his house and headed over to Yunjin's. With the school year finally behind them, he couldn't wait to spend the day with her, especially since he had some pretty exciting news to share.

When he got to her house, Yunjin greeted him at the door with a bright smile, her hair loosely cascading over her shoulders and her eyes sparkling with excitement. She led him inside, and they quickly settled into their usual spots on the couch, with Yunjin pulling a blanket over both of them as they sank into the cozy space together.

"So, first day of summer," Yunjin began, nudging him lightly. "What big plans do you have, Mr. Superstar?"

He grinned, unable to hide his excitement. "Funny you should ask, because... I actually have some pretty huge plans," he said, watching her face light up with curiosity.

"Oh? Do tell." She leaned closer, her eyes full of intrigue as she looked at him expectantly.

Y/N cleared his throat, feeling a small thrill at what he was about to say. "Well, you know how I play with the New York Renaissances, right? My travel team?"

Yunjin nodded, a smile already forming as if she sensed where this was heading. "Uh-huh. Don't tell me you guys have some big summer tournament or something?"

He chuckled, nodding. "Not just any tournament. We're going to EYBL Peach Jam in South Carolina." He paused, watching her eyes widen as the significance sank in. "It's basically the biggest tournament of the season."

"Oh my god, that's amazing!" Yunjin's face lit up with excitement, her hands gripping his. "I can't believe it. Peach Jam? That's huge, Y/N!"

He grinned, soaking in her excitement before he added, "And... I'm not done yet. My mom already talked to your parents, and they all decided to turn it into a family trip. Your whole family's coming down with us."

Yunjin's eyes went even wider, her face breaking into an even bigger smile. "Wait, what? Are you serious?"

"Dead serious." He nodded, his smile mirroring hers. "They figured it'd be a good summer getaway. I wanted to tell you myself, though, to make it a bit of a surprise."

She laughed, practically bouncing in her seat. "Y/N, that's amazing! I can't believe they kept this a secret from me." Her eyes sparkled as she leaned closer, her hands still holding his tightly. "I get to watch you play at Peach Jam. This is... it's gonna be the best summer ever."

He chuckled, his excitement matching hers. "Yeah, and it's in less than two weeks, so you better get ready for some Carolina heat."

She groaned playfully. "Great, can't wait to sweat to death," she teased, but her expression was full of nothing but anticipation. "But honestly, I wouldn't miss it for the world. Watching you play, seeing everything you've been working for... It's going to be incredible."

He looked at her, a warmth spreading through his chest. "I'm glad you'll be there. It means a lot," he said softly, his hand giving hers a gentle squeeze.

She smiled back, her cheeks tinged with a soft pink. "Of course, Y/N. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

On the plane, Y/N could barely contain his excitement. His leg bounced with unspent energy, and his fingers drummed a relentless rhythm against the armrest, his gaze occasionally darting out the window to watch the clouds drift by. Next to him, Yunjin couldn't help but smile, the amusement dancing in her eyes as she watched him.
