After arriving at Valencia Airport, Liora was picked up by her close friend Camila. She had printed a special sign to hold up and they threw themselves into each other's arms. After catching up about the flight, they drove to Camila's home, where Liora was sleeping on the couch.
The next morning, Liora woke up well-rested and the first thing she did was stretching. The fright from yesterday evening's flight was forgotten and the outlook to meet her friends today made her smile. Suddenly, the rich, warm aroma of coffee filled the air, stirring her fully awake. She stood up from the couch and followed the smell in the kitchen, Camila leaned on the counter with a big cup of coffee in her hands. As she noticed Liora, she smiled and pointed to the fresh cup of coffee on the dining table, which was made for Liora. Thankful, she picked up the cup of coffee and took a sip.
"When are we leaving to meet the others?", she asked.
"We want to meet at eleven at Plaça de la Reina and maybe have a snack there", Camila answered.
Liora nodded, savouring the coffee as the clock ticked toward nine-thirty. With an hour and a half left, they had plenty of time to get ready.
"You know, Camila, I have to tell you something. And I'd love to wait to share with all of you, but I kind of can't stop thinking about it", but Liora was interrupted by her friend.
"Just tell me."
"I met someone yesterday; and she is so amazing; and good-looking, too. But I don't know what I should think, because I literally just met her. And she didn't even call me, even though I gave her my number and now I'm so confused. I thought we had a connection", Liora explained with fast words.
"Woah, woah. Slow down. You met someone? And you gave her your number? Maybe she will get in touch with you later?", Camila suggested.
"No, you don't understand, we were searching for the charm, but it was nowhere to be seen. So, when I went to the airport, she looked for the charm at a café. She wanted to keep me updated, but she didn't."
Camila nodded understandingly. "I see, so you think she didn't bother to look for it?"
"Yes, but why would she first help me search and then don't give a damn? That doesn't make sense", Liora said, sighed and took another sip of the coffee.
Camila put her cup on the side and let out a deep breath. "You're right, that doesn't make sense. There's probably a logic reason for that."
"I can't think of any", Liora retorted.
"Maybe she had some technical issues? Her phone could've been empty", Camila proposed. "And I bet Mateo and Elena have more ideas, because I'm still tired and the coffee didn't kick in yet."
"You are right, I worry too much. It's not like it would change much if she called me and told me she found the charm. For now I must live without it, I guess", Liora said sighing. "Anyways, can I take a shower?"
"Of course!", Camila replied quickly. "I'll give you some towels." According to her words, she left the kitchen to get some towels and show Liora where she'd find everything.
In the shower Liora was thinking to herself. "Why can't I stop thinking about her? I can't believe it's only been a day since I met her. It feels like a dream. Ash was so kind, helping me search for that charm in the rain. I was already starting to panic, but she didn't hesitate to lend a hand. The way her eyes sparkled when she talked about her trips, it was contagious.
But now I'm here, hundreds of kilometres away, and she didn't even call. Did we really connect, or was it just the excitement of the moment? I can still feel the warmth of her smile, but what if I'm just imagining things? What if I read too much into it?
