SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 Title: Fired Up!

Cold Open: Scene opens in a dull, cramped office building. The sound of typing on keyboards, the occasional ringing phone, and the buzz of fluorescent lights fill the background. Johnny (early 20s, scruffy hair, a bit too laid-back for office life) and Tophia (early 20s, efficient but slightly disheveled from the chaos of office life) sit at their desks in their cubicles, glancing nervously at their manager, Mr. Grayson, a grumpy, middle-aged man in a suit.

Mr. Grayson: (walking over, holding a clipboard) Johnny... Tophia... can I speak with you two for a moment?

Johnny: (shrugging, sarcastic) Uh-oh, are we in trouble again?

Tophia: (nervous, whispering) Did we accidentally send that email about the office-wide nap policy to everyone?

Johnny: (whispering back) I thought it was a great idea, though!

Mr. Grayson: (annoyed) No, it's not the nap policy. You're both fired.

(Cutaway to Johnny and Tophia's reactions.)

Cutaway to: Johnny staring at the camera with his trademark grin.

Johnny: (straight to camera) Fired? Oh, I'm definitely not surprised. I mean, look at this place.(gestures to his desk) I thought the stapler was an art piece until I realized it wasn't even working.

(Back to the office.)

Tophia: (shocked) Fired? But we've only been here two weeks! We were just starting to learn the coffee machine's secret settings!

Johnny: (laughing) Yeah, you know, the one that makes coffee taste like cardboard!

Mr. Grayson: (folding his arms) It's not just about the coffee machine. You two haven't done anything productive since you got here. Johnny, you spent more time trying to come up with a theme song for the office than you did answering emails. Tophia, you've been sending out mass Happy Birthday emails, but it's not even anyone's birthday!

Johnny: (snaps fingers) Oh! That's why I got that weird cake in the break room yesterday!

Tophia: (realizing) Wait, it's because I put my cousin's birthday in the calendar, not the offices.

Johnny: (excitedly) That explains why people were so confused about the balloons. (leans in to Tophia) I think we nailed it though—everyone loves a surprise party.

Mr. Grayson: (exasperated) You know what? You both can go—you're not working out here.

(Cutaway to Tophia, who is wide-eyed and stiffly shaking her head.)

Cutaway to: Tophia sitting on a therapist's couch, speaking into a recorder with a very serious expression.
