Cold Open:The episode opens in Tophia's apartment. She's sitting at the kitchen table surrounded bytextbooks, notebooks, and a half-eaten muffin. Muffin the cat sits on her lap, also staring at thepapers with apparent judgment. Tophia looks stressed and overwhelmed.
Tophia: (groaning) Ugh, I can't believe I have to do this. How am I supposed to study for a GEDwhen I can't even remember where I put my phone half the time?
(The door swings open, and Johnny enters with a coffee cup in hand, clearly excited.)
Johnny: (enthusiastically) Guess what, Tophia? You're looking at your new teacher. I've got theperfect curriculum to get you through this GED!
Tophia: (slumping in her chair) Johnny, you're my teacher? That's like letting a toddler teachme algebra.
Johnny: (laughing) No, no, seriously. I've got the skills. I did an online course in teaching GEDprep and I am attending College for Education, so I'm practically a professional.
Tophia: (sighing) This is going to be a disaster.
(Muffin jumps down from her lap, walking toward the pile of textbooks as if to add to herdespair.)
Opening Credits:
(A quick, energetic montage of Johnny trying to teach Tophia with increasingly bizarre methods:flashcards with weird pictures, Tophia falling asleep mid-lesson, and Johnny desperately tryingto explain math concepts to a very confused Tophia. All of this is punctuated with dramaticmusic and Muffin's sarcastic stares.)
Scene 1:
In the living room, Tophia is sitting at a desk with Johnny standing over her, looking like anoverly enthusiastic teacher. The room is filled with clutter—books, coffee cups, and papersscattered everywhere.
Johnny: (pointing at a board with a math problem) Okay, so if Tim has 24 apples and gives 6 toSarah, how many apples does Tim have left?
Tophia: (frowning) Uh... Tim's an idiot? Why would he give Sarah any apples? Apples areprecious, Johnny.
Johnny: (exasperated) No, Tophia! It's a math problem. Just answer the question!
Tophia: (mocking) Fine. Tim has 18 apples. But he's still a fool.
(Nathan bursts in, holding a stack of study guides and papers, looking very serious.)
Nathan: (authoritative) Did someone say "study session"? I'm here to help you pass, Tophia. If you're gonna fail, I want it on my watch so I can at least say I tried.
Tophia: (grumbling) Thanks for the support, Nathan. Jackass.
Nathan: (sitting down) You've got this, Tophia. We'll study together.
(Tianna enters, her arms full of snacks, wearing oversized glasses as if she's an academicexpert.)
