The evening before the prom was abuzz with energy, anticipation thick in the air. Jennie sat cross-legged on Rose's plush rug in her cozy apartment, surrounded by scattered accessories and shoes, a small mountain of "maybes" piling up beside her. She groaned in frustration, running her fingers through her silky hair. "I don't know what to wear!"
Rose, rummaging through her chic dresser with practiced ease, glanced over her shoulder with a playful grin. "Well, what's Lisa wearing? Maybe that'll help you decide."
Jennie's cheeks flushed at the mention of Lisa. She looked down at her hands, shyly fidgeting with a loose thread on her sweater. "She said she's wearing a white suit." Just the thought of Lisa in a sharp, tailored suit made her heart flutter, a giddy excitement bubbling within her.
Rose paused for a moment, tapping her chin dramatically. "Hmm, white, huh? Then you should be her opposite. Go black—classic and bold!"
Jennie furrowed her brows, shaking her head. "I don't have anything black that's formal enough for prom."
Rose's eyes lit up, a mischievous glint sparkling in them. "Oh, but I do!" She turned back to the dresser, digging through her collection like a woman on a mission. Clothes flew to the side, and Jennie watched her in amused disbelief. "Rose, are you sure—"
"Found it!" Rose triumphantly held up a dress, the fabric shimmering under the warm light of her room. The black gown was breathtaking, effortlessly elegant yet daring. The material was soft and flowy, hugging the body in all the right places without being restrictive. A thigh-high slit ran up one side, teasing just the right amount of skin. The neckline was a plunging V-shape, accented with delicate lace detailing that added an extra touch of sophistication.
Jennie's jaw dropped as she stared at the dress. "Rose... this is..."
Rose held it up against Jennie, cocking her head to assess how it might look. "This is perfect! It's sexy, it's bold, and it'll make Lisa's jaw hit the floor." She handed the dress to Jennie with a teasing wink. "Try it on. Trust me—you'll look stunning."
Jennie hesitated, holding the gown in her hands. "It's... a bit much, don't you think?"
Rose waved her hand dismissively. "No such thing as too much when it comes to Lisa. She'll lose her mind when she sees you in this."
Jennie blushed furiously, imagining Lisa's reaction. "I don't know..."
Rose grinned, plopping down on the bed. "Oh, come on. This dress will make Lisa thirsty for you all night after prom. She won't know what hit her."
Jennie gasped, grabbing a pillow and tossing it at Rose. "Rose! That's too much!"
Rose laughed, catching the pillow and hugging it to her chest. "I'm just saying the truth! Now, go try it on. And while you're at it, we'll figure out what to do with your hair."
Jennie sighed, a smile tugging at her lips despite herself. "Okay, okay... but if Lisa starts acting weird tomorrow, it's your fault."
Rose smirked, reclining dramatically. "Gladly."
As Jennie took the dress and stepped into the bathroom to try it on, Rose leaned back, already imagining the chaos her suggestion would cause.
Jennie emerged from the bathroom, her cheeks slightly flushed and her arms nervously smoothing the fabric of the dress. The gown hugged her frame perfectly, the soft black material flowing down to just above her ankles, the slit on one side adding a touch of daring elegance. She glanced at Rose shyly, fiddling with the straps. "What do you think?"
Rose, sprawled across the edge of her bed, smirked as her eyes swept over Jennie. "Perfect. Absolutely perfect." She jumped up, circling Jennie like a fashion critic, nodding approvingly. "Now for your hair," she said, tilting her head thoughtfully. "Keep it down. Let's do soft curls to balance out the boldness of the dress."
Jennie looked at herself in the full-length mirror, touching the ends of her hair. "Curls, huh? Okay. Whatever you think is best."
Rose clapped her hands, excited. "Great! Now, while I work my magic on your hair tomorrow, let me show you what I'm wearing." She crossed the room, rummaging through her closet with practiced ease, before pulling out a flowing cream-colored dress. She held it up for Jennie to see, the soft satin fabric catching the light. "Ta-da!"
Jennie raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile on her lips. "Wow, and I thought mine was bold. You're rocking an open-shoulder look?"
Rose grinned, shrugging playfully. "Hey, I don't have a slit. You do. So, if anyone's going to be making jaws drop, it's definitely you." She laughed, imagining the inevitable chaos. "I can already picture Lisa at this point—probably trying to come up with a way to not look too flustered while everyone else knows she's losing it."
Jennie laughed along, the image of Lisa's flustered expression flashing in her mind. She adjusted the straps of her dress again, her earlier nerves fading away with Rose's playful encouragement. "Speaking of Lisa... I wonder how those two are doing right now."
Rose's grin widened mischievously. "Oh, you mean Lisa and Jisoo? Probably something ridiculous. Maybe Jisoo's convincing her to wear a crown or something equally outrageous. You know how those two are when they're together."
Jennie giggled, nodding. "They do bring out the most chaotic side of each other."
Rose flopped back onto her bed dramatically. "Well, either way, we're about to steal the show tomorrow. Lisa and Jisoo won't know what hit them."
Jennie smiled softly, brushing her fingers over the fabric of the dress. Her mind wandered to Lisa's reaction, her heart fluttering at the thought. Tomorrow was going to be unforgettable.
