Klaus POV
I sprinted toward the hall, my heart pounding in my chest for more reasons than just the run. I barely felt the cold night air biting at my skin or the ache in my legs. All I could think about was getting there-getting to her.
There she was, sitting on the staircase just outside the hall. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to move closer. I called softly. She lifted her head at the sound of my voice, her icy blue eyes locking onto mine.
I couldn't help it-call it cliché, but she was breathtaking
Her knees were tucked up to her chest, her arms wrapped around them. The moonlight framed her perfectly, casting a soft glow on her white dress, making it shimmer like frost under starlight. I froze for a moment, taking her in. The way the moonlight caught her features, the softness in her gaze-it was breathtaking. She was beautiful in a way that felt almost unreal.
Weiss: "What are you doing here?"
Her voice came out quieter than she intended, barely above a whisper. There was a pause, and then I spoke
Klaus: "I could ask you the same thing. Aren't you supposed to be inside, enjoying the dance you worked so hard on?"
Weiss: "Maybe I didn't feel like dancing. I thought you'd be gone by now."
Klaus: "It's a long story"
I sat besides her, and explained how my mentor went behind my back and joined the team so he could 'surprise' me at the last moment that I could have went to the dance.
I stood in front of her, my expression a mix of nervousness and determination. The grip on my hand tightened slightly, grounding me in the moment.
Klaus: "You said yesterday you were giving me a second chance," I began, my voice steady but with a faint edge of uncertainty. "So, I want to use that now. Weiss Schnee," I said, looking her directly in the eyes, "would you go to the dance with me?"
She blinked, her icy blue eyes widening slightly as she looked up at me.For a moment, she didn't say anything, and I felt the faintest hint of doubt creep into my chest. Then, slowly, a soft smile broke across her lips, and my heart skipped a beat.
"Yes."
She said, her voice barely above a whisper but carrying more weight than any word I'd ever heard.
Klaus: "Really?"
I asked, the disbelief slipping into my tone. She rolled her eyes, but there was no real annoyance in the gesture.
Weiss: "Yes, Klaus" she repeated, her cheeks faintly pink.
Klaus: "Oh my god, Weiss! You said yes! I mean, I hoped you would, but actually hearing it-wow, this is amazing!"
I broke into the biggest grin imaginable. The words were tumbling out faster than I could think, and I didn't care. She raised an eyebrow at me.
Weiss: "Are you always this excitable?"
Klaus: "Excitable? You have no idea how much I wanted to hear those words when I asked. The awkward and tension filled moments in the past few days was so worth it."
Her lips twitched into a smile, and I could swear she was trying to hold back a laugh.
Klaus: "I'll be the perfect dance partner. I mean, I'm not great at dancing-I may have, uh, stepped on someone's toes last time-but I'll figure it out! For you? Totally worth it!"
Weiss: "Klaus-"
Klaus: "Oh, and I'll make sure to look good! I mean, I don't have the fancy wardrobe you probably expect, but Jaune lent me a suit! Well, it's his suit, but I'm borrowing it, and I'll make it work-"
