Chapter 4

Maya's POV

" GRAMMA.. POP-POP" was all I heard with the movement of someone jumping on the bed, I opened my eyes to see my two beautiful grandchildren jumping on the bed, I quickly looked under the covers to make sure both Tony and I had on clothes, we did. Because that probably would've traumatized my babies. "Good morning, girls," I said, sitting up and reaching for a hug, Both girls came in my lap and hugged me " POP-POP" it's time to get up Leela said, shaking him. "I up honey... I'm up." He said, now sitting up, "How did you guys sleep?"Amara asked. " Good," I said. " Good," Tony said, following along with me. " Hey girls, how about we let Pop-pop and Gramma get ready for today," Meena said, standing at the door. Both girls walked out, and Meena closed the door. I lay back down and looked at my husband, who was staring at me,            " How are you feeling?" he asked me, pulling me into his lap, " I'm a little sore," I said with a slight smile, rubbing his cheek. 

He kissed my forehead and looked at me deep in my eyes. " No baby, how are you feeling mentally, you know you can talk to me, right?" He said, running his hand through my hair. I looked at him right in his eyes, " I know," I said. " Talk to me," he said. I look at him right in the eyes, I've always been open to my husband it's never nothing he doesn't know, but this time is different, I physically can't put into words how I'm feeling, I can't say out loud I'm missing my mommy more than ever now, I can't say I'm breaking down every day and don't know why, " I'm fine" I said he looked at me deep in the eyes once more like he knew I was lying, "Ok" he said. I could feel my eyes starting to tear up, and I quickly hopped up. Let's get up and get our day started, mmh? I said, walking into the bathroom. 

I grabbed my toothbrush and brushed my teeth, I quickly wiped my eyes before my husband came into the bathroom, he came behind me and wrapped his hands around me "I you so much, baby," he said," I love you so much more" I said and continued to brush my teeth. When I finished everything in the bathroom, I walked to my bag to pull out the clothes I was going to wear today, "Baby, make sure you have everything, we leave tonight," he said, coming out of the bathroom, "Okay "I said with a slight smile. 

I finally walked out of the room. " Hi, Mommy," Meena said, coming up to me and hugging me. " Hi, baby," I said, hugging her back. " How are you this morning?" she said, pulling away from the hug. "I'm ok, how are you doing?" I asked back, "I'm good," she responded. "Hey, Nik," I said, walking where he and the girls were. " Hi, gramma," he said "Gramma, you took forever," Leela said, walking up to me. " Must you be extra like your mom?" I said, laughing, and she followed along. 

" So, What's the plan for today," I asked, sitting down on the couch, "we were just gonna do a little cookout, dad said he'll grill," Meena said, "Okay, I will make the sides then," I respond. "Sounds like a great plan," Meena said. Tony then came out of the room "Let's get the party started," he said "POP-POP," the girls ran up to him. "Pop, we have to go to the store to get everything we need for the grill," Nik said, standing up and grabbing his keys, "okay," Tony responded as he walked over to me. " Are you sure you're okay, honey?" he said in my ear, I shook my head yes, " I don't believe you, but I'm not going to push it anymore," He said I went to fix my lips to say, I need you to hold me, tell me I can do this and to not give up, I need you so bad, but all that came out of my mouth was " I'm okay baby, trust me" as they left for the store I rubbed my hands over my face and stood up. 

" I was thinking black-eyed peas, Mac and cheese, corn, and maybe some rolls," I said, walking up to Meena In the kitchen, "Great, because we have all of that," she said, laughing and starting to pull all of it out. " Perfect," I said, giggling. I started with the Mac and cheese because I knew it would take the longest, "so, I know you and Dad were having a moment yesterday," Meena said as she started to get the pans out, " Yeah, we talked about it .. were ok now" I responded not wanting to get into it "Is talking all y'all did?" Meena said with a smirk. " Meena," I said, looking at her with a serious face. " Sorry, sorry," she responded, laughing, but I didn't find it funny, not one bit.
