What could be inside?

But just as Felar's fingertips touched the edge of the lid, a loud engine roared outside.

Ang malalim na dagundong nito ay umalingawngaw hanggang sa loob ng kanyang silid. Napako si Felar sa kanyang kinatatayuan, mabilis syang napalingon patungo sa pinagmulan ng tunog. Biglang bumilis ang tibok ng kanyang puso nang makilala niya ang ingay nito.

Her eyes lit up with joy.

Panandaliang nawala ang kanyang pagod mula sa mga pangyayari kahapon. Ang tunog na iyon, hindi siya kailanman pwedeng magkamali, kilala niya iyon.

"No way..." she whispered to herself, her lips curving into a wide smile.

Without a second thought, she abandoned the box. It could wait.

Sa halip, mabilis siyang tumakbo papunta sa terrace ng kanyang silid at buong pananabik na binuksan ang glass door.

Sinalubong siya ng malamig na hangin ng umaga, but all she could see was the sleek black car pulling into the driveway below her.

She gasped. She was right, it was them.

"Mommy! Daddy!" she screamed, Felar's voice filled with excitement.

Kumilos ang kanyang mga binti bago pa man makapagproseso ang kanyang isip, mabilis siyang lumabas ng silid, at nagtatakbo siyang bumaba sa hagdanan.

Nearly stumbling on the last step. Good thing, she was quick to grab the handrail.

By the time she reached the main door, her parents were stepping out of the car. Her father fixed his tie as he looked up at the mansion, while her mother took off her sunglasses. Her face, both sharp and kind, softened when she saw their daughter.

Nagmamadaling binuksan ni Felar ang main door ng bahay, halos madulas pa ito habang humahakbang pababa sa tatlong baitang na front steps. "Mommy! Daddy!" muling sigaw niya, halos mabasag ang kanyang boses sa labis na saya.

Her mother barely had time to open her arms before Felar threw herself into a hug, squeezing tightly.

"My beautiful daughter!" her mother exclaimed, laughing softly as she stroked Felar's damp hair. "Look at you, how are you so energetic!"

Isiniksik naman ni Felar ang kanyang mukha sa balikat ng kanyang ina, nilalanghap ang pamilyar na pabango nito. "I missed you so much, Mommy," she whispered.

Making Felar's father, smiled warmly as he joined the hug, placing his gentle hand on Felar's back. "Aren't we gone for just a few days? Para kang iniwan ng isang taon."
