Kabir Pov.
I knew one thing for sure: I wasn't going to back down. I had done what I had to do to protect myself and my interests. And I was willing to do whatever it took to keep myself safe.
I pressed the intercom button on my desk. "Aryan, come to my cabin. Now."
A few seconds later, the door to my cabin opened and Aryan walked in. "Sir?" he asked, his eyes questioning.
"Someone just sent me a threatening message," I told him, my voice firm. "I want you to find out who it is and what they want."
Aryan's expression turned serious. "Right away, sir."
"I want results, Aryan," I emphasized. "I don't care what it takes. Find out who's behind this and bring me their head on a platter."
I slid the phone across the desk, the screen displaying the threatening message. "This is the number," I told Aryan. "Get me everything you can on it."
Aryan's eyes scanned the message before he nodded and took out his own phone. "I'll get right on it, sir."
With a final nod, Aryan turned and left my cabin, closing the door softly behind him. I was alone once again, but I knew Aryan would get to work immediately.
I leaned back in my chair, steepling my fingers together as I thought about the message. Who could be behind it? And what did they want from me?
As I sat there, my mind racing with possibilities, one name kept popping up in my head: Arjun.
It had to be someone from his family, I thought. Who else could it be? I had been careful to keep the details of what had happened to Arjun under wraps. Only his family knew the truth, and I had assumed they would keep it to themselves.
But now, I wasn't so sure. Had someone from Arjun's family decided to break their silence and come after me?
I thought about the possibilities, my mind racing with scenarios. It had to be someone close to Arjun, someone who knew the truth about what had happened.
I pulled out my phone and typed out a message to a trusted contact. "I need you to dig deeper into Arjun's family," I wrote. "Find out who's been talking, and what they're planning."
I hit send and leaned back in my chair, my mind still racing with thoughts of Arjun's family and their potential involvement in the threat.
I decided to shift my focus to the task at hand and began to sift through the files on my desk. I had a meeting with a potential investor later in the week, and I needed to make sure I was prepared.
As I pored over the financial reports and market analyses, my mind began to wander back to the threat. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something, that there was more to the message than met the eye.
But my thoughts also turned to Aashvi, and the way I had lashed out at her earlier. I had wanted to hurt her, to make her feel the same pain and anger that I was feeling.
But as I thought about it now, I felt a pang of guilt. Why was I feeling guilty? I didn't owe her anything. She was just a pawn in my game, a means to an end.
I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. After a few hours of reviewing the files, I felt confident that I was ready for the meeting.
I glanced at my watch and saw that it was already late afternoon. I had a business party to attend tonight, and I needed to get ready.
I let out a sigh as I stood up from my desk. I wasn't looking forward to the party. I had to make an appearance, but I would rather be just about anywhere else.
