Reed sat against the wall, her eyes glued to the bathroom door.
Too much...
It was utterly too much for her poor heart to handle.
Tonight... It said tonight...
She didn't know how much time had passed... Was it already evening?
Afternoon?
She couldn't tell...
Reed glanced at her companion, who resided in one of the stalls.
Not long after the talk with Laine, Isabella woke up screaming and thrashing, like a wild animal. She would cry and wail, throwing her limbs around despite Reed's attempts to calm her down before inevitably she crawled into one of the stalls.
She wouldn't speak or acknowledge Reed at least not after she regained consciousness...
All Isabella did was tremble in the corner, her dark eyes jumping around the room as if searching for something...
Reduce brain function, huh?
Was Laine the sole reason Isabella had regressed? Moulding and shaping her until he could speak through her?
All she knew was that whatever the creature did left Isabella shaken to the very core of her being... She didn't even want to think what a failed attempt would have looked like...
Hit him where he is weak...
These were the last words Isabella said before she turned completely feral, Reed had attempted to make contact multiple times but sadly each time failed spectacularly.
Hit who?
Ryan?
Laine?
Reed had to assume it was Ryan...
Could she even call him weak? If anything, it seemed Ryan had the high ground...
But it didn't matter... Not in the face of the grand plan before her.
The time was running out... And it was running out fast...
She needed to think.
Ryan had all the power to keep them there... The food, guns, even physical condition...
All pointed towards him.
He was the king of the castle, not Reed.
Now, there was a possibility Ryan would open the door again to feed them...
Reed looked around the room.
Sink.
Stalls.
Toilet Paper.
The bin.
Mirror.
Maybe she could sneak up on him? Knock him out even?
The bin could do it... Except it was way too big and hard to handle, not to mention that sneaking up on Ryan would be difficult. She couldn't possibly stand by the door and risk getting shot... Maybe hide in the stall and wait?
Nope... Regardless of the scenario, Reed would end up eating bullets.
Unless she could hurt him somehow.... Perhaps smash the mirror? The shards would certainly be sharp enough to serve as a weapon, but Reed wasn't too keen on showing up with a knife to a gunfight.
She could trick him... She could pretend she had slit her wrists and catch him off guard... Except Ryan was smarter than that. He wouldn't let her pull a stunt like that... She knew it, not to mention Isabella most likely would get in the way...
