"Well, how have you been lately?"

"I've been okay. Work keeps me busy. How about yourself? Did you locate Harry?"

"I've been good. The city's been keeping me busy. And yes, I found him just after I left Oscorp."

"Well that's good."

"Mhm. Are you cold? I can turn the air down if you'd like me to."

"Just a little. You know how I'm cold nature," I laugh. "But I can get it..." I say as I reach over to turn the fan nob.

He reaches over at the same time I do and our finger tips meet. I flinch my hand back as if his hand was a burning stove.
Awkward. I lean my head over on the cold glass window and look out to avoid the tense air in the car, but he's not having it.

"Gwen, don't be so distant with me. I understand you should be ill with me for what happened but I thought we were trying to work on this.. friendship."

"I'm sorry," I mutter.

He reaches over and puts his hand in its usual place-- in the middle of my thigh-- and squeezes it gently. It catches me by surprise, but I don't jerk away. We both look at each other and me gives me a small smile.

"You know this won't work," he says and looks back at the road.

"I know," I say quietly.

"I still love you, babe. More than ever. I'm just scared to be around you because that suit gives me a name that the city needs. There's a great chance you could be hurt."

"Pete, look at me. I'm a big girl. No one makes my decisions except for myself. I want to be with you and no one's changing my mind on that."

"So, England?"

"I don't know. I have an interview in a few days. There are actually this couple I met that may also be going. They have a better chance of going than I do, and I hope they do. I don't want to go up there not knowing anyone... I mean if I even get accepted."

"That's good. What are their names? Maybe we could double date or something... that is, if you'd want to.."

"His name is Lucas and hers is McKenzie. A double date sounds wonderful. I know you'll love them. We eat frozen yogurt--"

"Yeah, at that place close to the Square. You love it there."

I think for a second before responding. Fro-Yo didn't open until late last month, and we have been apart for two. Has he been following me?

"Have you been.. Following me?" He hangs his head slightly and looks out as if he didn't hear my question.

"How often?"

"Just once or twice a day. Just so that I know you're safe. It was the closest I could get to being with you Gwen."

"You're special Pete." I smile at run my hand over his. "So where are you taking me?"

"That's for me to know and for you to find out," he smirks and winks.

"Oh no! I must just out and save myself! I know where you're taking me! The middle of nowhere so you can kill me and eat my guts! Suck my blood out for your spider senses!" He throws his head back in laughter.

"Who told you my plans? I need to web my mouth shut!" We both die in laughter as he pulls into his Aunt May's driveway.

We walk in and Ms. May is standing in the kitchen stirring a pot on the stove. When she hears the door closes, she turns around and greets us with a smile.

"Oh my goodness, Gwenny, you get prettier each time that I see you! I don't see how Peter over here got such a beautiful lady." She and I both laugh.

"Hey, hey, hey! I know I won her over with my good looks and extravagant hair." He smirks and playfully elbows me.

"Haha! You wish!" I say and shove him back with a smile. He winks at me and May leads us into the wonderful-smelling kitchen.

"I just went with a simple pasta. You like cheese-filled tortellini, don't you?"

"Yes ma'am. Love it." I smile.

"I thought so. Don't be shy and eat as much as you'd like." She says as she puts the noodles on the table. I get the bowl of sauce and move it over as well to save her a trip.

"I haven't forgotten how much of a doll you are. I have already set the table but I forgot the napkins."

"Don't worry. I'll grab them." Peter interjects.

"Thank you sweetie! I'll leave you two be. I'll be in the den if you guys need me."

"Thank you, Aunt May."

She smiles and leaves the room. I thought she would have eaten with us, but her dishes in the sink tell me that she already has.

"Well, are you still watching that show about the pretty liars?"

I laugh and nod my head. "It's Pretty Little Liars."

"Oh my bad," He laughs. "Have they caught A yet?"

"No, not yet. Aria and Ezra broke up and Hanna has began to shut Caleb out after they got out of the dollhouse. And now, Sarah and Emily are a thing."

"I knew that was coming! Didn't you?"

His words warm my heart. "And you always said it was stupid and obnoxious.

"Words sometimes contradict one's actual feelings on a subject."

"I always knew you loved it. You weren't fooling anyone. You payed more attention to the show than you did me at times!"

"That couldn't be possible, my love." He says with a smile and I stab at the last noodle on my plate.

"How are you going to treat me in the morning? Are you still going to want this?" I ask and wave my hand between the two of us.

"Always. If you will have me, I will have you," he states and brings his hand across the table to caress mine. "So will I be able to take you up on that double date? Maybe tomorrow? I want to meet your new friends and make sure this Lucas isn't too hot to be," he laughs.

"Of course!" I squeeze his hand. "And trust me, McKenzie would kill me. You don't have anything to worry about there," We laugh along together and it's my favorite tune.
