I felt like I was in a nightmare, unable to wake up. One minute I was being held captive by Louis, and the next, Enzo was there, his arms wrapped around me, holding me close.
I clutched him tightly, my face buried in his chest. I couldn't stop crying, the sobs wracking my body. Enzo's voice was a soothing balm, his whispers calming me, telling me I was safe.
But I couldn't shake off the feeling of terror. Louis's hands on me, his breath on my skin... I felt dirty, violated.
Enzo's arms tightened around me, holding me closer. "Shh," he whispered. "You're safe now. I've got you."
I looked up at him, his face blurred by my tears. But I saw the determination in his eyes, the fierce protectiveness. And I knew I was safe. Enzo would never let anyone hurt me again.
As we reached the car, Enzo signaled to one of his men, who quickly opened the passenger door. Enzo tried to gently pry me loose, to set me down in the seat, but I tightened my hold around him, refusing to let go.
"It's okay, bella," he whispered reassuringly. "You're safe now. I've got you."
But I shook my head, my face buried in his chest. I couldn't bear the thought of being separated from him, not even for a moment.
Enzo sighed, his chest rising and falling beneath me. He signaled to his man, who slid into the driver's seat. Then, Enzo settled into the backseat, cradling me in his lap.
I felt a sense of relief wash over me as he wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.
I nuzzled my face into the warm curve of Enzo's neck, feeling a sense of safety and comfort wash over me. His scent, a subtle blend of leather, smoke, and something uniquely him, enveloped me, calming my racing heart.
As I breathed him in, I felt my tense muscles begin to relax, my eyelids growing heavy. Enzo's arms tightened around me, holding me close as the car glided smoothly through the streets.
For the first time since the nightmare began, I felt a sense of peace, knowing I was exactly where I was meant to be – in Enzo's arms.
I drifted off to sleep, lulled by the gentle motion of the car and the warmth of Enzo's arms around me. But as the car came to a stop, I was jolted awake, my heart racing with alarm.
I looked around frantically, disoriented, but as my gaze fell on Enzo, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. He was smiling softly at me, his eyes crinkled at the corners.
"We're home, bella," he whispered, his voice low and soothing.
As he opened the car door and stepped out, I felt a surge of fear, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. But as Enzo reached in and gently lifted me out of the car, I saw the familiar sights of our mansion, our home.
Enzo carried me into his bedroom, trying to settle me into bed. But I refused to let him go, clinging to him like a lifeline.
"Enzo, No," I whispered, my voice shaking. "I need to wash him off me. I need to feel clean again."
Enzo's expression softened, understanding etched on his face. He whispered, "We'll get you cleaned up."
He carried me into the bathroom, setting me down on the edge of the tub. He began to run the water, adding scented oils to create a soothing bath.
As Enzo prepared the tub, he began to turn away, giving me privacy. "I'll send one of the maids to help you, okay?" he said softly.
But I reached out, grasping his hand and pulling it back. I guided his fingers to the buttons on my pajama top, pressing them against the first button. Enzo's eyes locked onto mine, a question burning in their depths.
