Shattered Illusions

Sofia's phone buzzed and there was Lily's text.
'Don't forget about your meet up with Oscuro at our cafe.'
Sofia's eyes widened and she completely forgot about this. She thought for a second and sat on Oscuro's bike again.
"So?" Oscuro asked turning on the ignition.
"To the cafe." She replied wearing the helmet again.
"Sure." Oscuro drove away.
Little did they know a pair of eyes was staring at them in pure hatred.
It was Layla.

Oscuro was driving with thrill. He had a strong crush on Sofia, so what he could ask more.
"We left the cafe behind!" Sofia yelled to get his attention.
"Oh I am sorry." Now he was flustered and turned around his bike.
"Here we are. You go and take a seat I will come after parking my bike." Oscuro was too flustered to face her now. He parked his bike at Lily's place and rushed back to cafe.
"I took sometime." Oscuro started to talk even before sitting down.
"It's fine. Take a seat." Sofia wasn't matching his energy at all.
"What do you wanna order? The bill is on me." Oscuro's smile shrunk.
"What's that suppose to mean?" He asked in confusion.
"It means I will pay the bill. You helped me a lot that day if it wasn't for you I would have faced serious consequences. I am grateful to you." Sofia spoke without any spark in her eyes. She was looking like a statue an extremely beautiful one but without any signs of life in it.
"I didn't help you to get any payback or something. It was out of concern. We are friends." He couldn't understand why was she so inflexible towards him.
"No we aren't we are strangers. Strangers who know a few details about each other lives. Few unharmful details." Sofia's words were causing a burning sensation in Oscuro's heart. He was stunned how she didn't even flinch before cutting his heart mercilessly.
"Uh.... I am not getting what you are trying to say?" Oscuro asked after a while.
"I don't get it either. It is what it is." Sofia spoke and called the waiter.
Oscuro's heart clenched he was feeling uncomfortable and hurt. He looked at her who was brutally honest. He couldn't believe the doors he thought he was successful in opening in her heart were closed infact they were never opened at the first place. Every time he felt she was warming up to him was just in his own mind. She actually never acknowledged him.
"What would you like to order?" How could she ask questions like this after crushing his feelings just a moment ago.
"I..I don't want to have anything. Just water please." His heart was getting heavier and heavier with every passing second he needed water to calm himself down.
"Red velvet cupcakes are tasty. You should try them." Sofia spoke looking at him but it appeared as if she was looking beyond him.
"May be next time. The rancor in me won't be satisfied by it right now." Oscuro spoke, his mournful eyes were looking at her.
"I want to thank you fo-"
"You already did Sofia Reyes. You thanked me multiple times. You don't need to thank me over and over again. I would have done it for anyone it's nothing to be so thankful about." He was getting pissed. He needed to shut her up before he opened his bare injured heart Infront of her.
"Take at least one. I came here just for one purpose only." She kept persuading him. He had no choice but to eat one of the cupcake that was like a bitter cake for him at that moment. The coffee she ordered for him made him feel as if he had swallowed a boiling water burning his insides beyond repair.
"Should we go?" Sofia immediately nodded and opened her purse to pay the bill.
"Please bring the bill sir." She asked a waiter, who returned after a moment.
"Mam your bill is paid." Sofia's eyes infuriated she looked at Oscuro but he was standing next to his chair silently looking outside.
"I said I will pay!"
Oscuro looked at her, scowled hard and was about to say something but Sofia again spoke.
"But if that's what you want I am okay with that." She spoke in icy cold accent and walked outside.
Oscuro could sense she was ready to fight but held back. Why didn't she fight with him. Low-key he did want her to fight so he could state his concerns as well and ask her why he was so unimportant for her. It was obvious she wanted to get away from him. It was the least he could do.
Sofia was standing outside staring at the sky. Orange pinkish hues on the sky were giving an absolute best view. But she was feeling empty inside. She took deep breaths to calm herself down. She was torn inside with all the stuff that has happened today.
She saw a text from an unknown number.
'Did you reach home princess?'
She scoffed and switched off her cell phone. Lily was out with her parents there was no reason for her to keep her cell switched on.
Oscuro was looking at her standing under the setting sun looking like an angel but looking at her didn't give him any butterflies instead all he could feel was hurt.
"Let's go." Oscuro walked out holding Sofia's purse which she forgot inside the cafe. He forwarded it to her without saying a word. Sofia took it from him. She didn't ask him where his bike was? Why were they walking? Neither she took the first step nor did he broke the ice. It seemed as if everything they had between them before that evening was suddenly vanished into thin air. Her heart was empty and his heart was hurt. Both of them were in their own individual battles where neither of them were making any progress or showing any signs of fight. They were about to give up or thay had given up long ago. They don't know.
They kept walking in a piercing silence lingering around them. Soon they stood outside the Reyes residence.
Sofia looked back at him and was about to thank him. But he turned back and started to walk. Sofia kept looking at his back not knowing what to do.
She looked up at the sky and a lone tear slipped out of her left eye shinning like a pearl. She wiped it off and walked inside. She was looking beautiful but gloomy. She didn't have any energy to face anyone else so she rushed to her room and went to take a shower, may be it will calm her down. Maybe.

*At Lily's place*
A completely mentally and physically drained Oscuro walked inside Lily's house only to find her sitting in lounge waiting for him desperately. He saw her and his eyes widened to find a slap mark with her lip bursted at the edge having dried blood on it.
She looked at him with teary eyes, he couldn't keep his cool and walked near her immediately.
"Lil-"
"Oscuro!" Lily immediately hugged Oscuro and started to let out all the pain was holding in. She started to cry hard. Instead of asking her what happened? He spoke.
"It's okay I am here. Your Oscuro is here. No one can touch you now."
Lily was a sobbing mess. Her heart wrenching cries made Oscuro's heart clench. He kept holding her and let her cry on her shoulder.
Lily took her time to calm down.
"You took a lot of time I thought you will come back sooner." Lily spoke with her voice hoarse from all the crying.
"Are you okay now?" Instead of answering her Oscuro asked her a question.
"Yeah I am better I was waiting for you to come back." Lily replied and a year slipped her cheek.
"No no. No more crying." Oscuro wiped her tears and have her a glass of water.
"Where are they?" He asked after sitting next to her.
"Back to their party." Lily replied.
"And how long you have been here?" He asked her to which she didn't reply but held his arm and placed her head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of her head and held her hand. Lily knew in the whole wide world he is the only one she can count on. She knew even if the world turn their backs towards her he will stand against the whole world for her.

*Layla's pov*
What the hell is this? First that lady, now this man, she is leaving with him alone???
What the hell is happening why am I missing out so many details.
How come this prick could get anything like this. I can't believe this is the same unkept stupid sleepy head Sofia.
I need to talk to Evelyn my mind is bursting with anger.
"Hey gurrrl!!!!!" Evelyn's cheerful voice made my blood boil even more.
"Looks like you had a great time didn't you." I spoke in pure jealousy.
"Yeah. Actually Imad showed up and gosh we had a great time. He is so funny." Evelyn was all dolled up just like me.
"Oh wait a moment he is leaving. Let me bid him good bye." Evelyn held the phone's camera in front of her and after saying goodbye rushed back to her room.
"I couldn't see him." I spoke pissed and agitated.
"Oh really I kinda forgot to show him to you. Don't worry I will call him out of the next hangout. Then you can see him all you want. But not too much I don't like it." Evelyn laughed it off.
I was burning in anger but suddenly smirked.
"You know with whom Sofia left?" Evelyn's eyes doubled the size. 
"She came to the kick back?"
"Yeah that too all dressed up and with company." My smirk widened and finally I was feeling a little satisfied.
"Woah woah what the hell happened. Sofia wouldn't do all this stuff unless something psychologically drastic happens." She was beyond shocked.
"And she dared to insult me." I spoke with a frown.
"What the hell." Evelyn sat up.
"Exactly if you hadn't bailed on me we could have let her know her place. But then I  looked lonely." I started to whine.
"That's strange I am intrigued. Wait why don't I visit you guys on Monday? What say?" I finally smiled again.
"Sure!" I spoke.

Sofia was laying in her bed looking sad and tired. She was worried about Lily but she was too drained to even open her eyes let alone talk to someone.
Ana told her she won't be home. It was obvious Malena doesn't know about Hardin or anything concerning Ana's life. So Sofia knew she had to keep it all to herself and not to bring it to the table in front of her amazing mother and always present father. She scoffed at her own thoughts. She hadn't eaten anything at all. She didn't have the energy to do that either. She simply drifted to deep slumber.
