Summary: you're her favourite maiden

You were a pretty clumsy person, so for you to survive this long at Castle Dimitrescu was really weird. In fact, when your batch of maidens first arrived at the castle, you were sure you'd be the first one to die.

Be it knocking over a pot, missing a spec of grime or even just being a second later than you should've been, the maidens of the castle were often killed for every little mistake. And yet, you were sure you'd done all of those mistakes within a week of working at the castle...

Even still, you were very much alive and breathing. The ladies of the castle seemed to have taken a liking to you, especially Cassandra.

You remembered when the new batch of maidens were called to the Countess' chambers, and had some blood drawn from each. The ladies would then taste the blood... which was really confusing until they told everyone that they were vampires and got everyone panicking.

A few maidens tried running off, but they didn't last long. The daughters were just too fast. As you watched the maiden beside you get eaten alive, you winced at her screams. Gee, that must've hurt...

The lady then turned to you, with her smirk. With the blood smeared all over her face and sickle in hand, she walked towards you like a serial killer out of a horror movie. You gulped, unsure of what to expect.

She raised her sickle and left a small cut on your hand, before taking it to her lips and drinking your blood. As she did, her eyes widened, and she began sucking at your wound. When she raised her head again, she licked her lips... and your stomach began doing way too many flips.

"Hmm... you taste amazing," smirking, she locked eyes with you, causing your knees to feel weak. By the time the commotion had cleared, only half the maidens in the room were left alive. You took some time to absorb her appearance.

Despite looking extremely intimidating from what happened earlier, you had to admit she looked fine. The brunette had golden orbs, her pupils dilated. Dried blood stained her perfectly-sculpted face. The symbol of Castle Dimitrescu was in her forehead.

"Daughters, please have the maidens clear the bodies and drain them," the countess said, elegantly taking a seat on her chair, crossing a leg over the other. "Yes mother," the daughters dispersed into flies. Before leaving, the brunette winked at you...

Ever since, you've always had a chilly feeling that someone was watching your back. Yet, when you turned around, there was nothing. Maybe you were being paranoid, but the buzzing sounds were making you feel a little uneasy.

You got a list of your duties for the day, you were in charge of cleaning up the armoury. You weren't sure why the head maid seemed terrified, even muttering a 'good luck' when you received the job. After all, it seemed pretty easy compared to the other maidens who had to clean a whole hallway.

You grabbed your cleaning equipment before making your way to the armoury. When you arrived, you were nothing short of amazed. The sharp weapons on the tables and walls, even the shiny and delicate jewelry were an impressive collection.

As you began cleaning the armoury, you heard a faint buzzing sound getting closer. You snapped your neck to the side when you heard the doors open, only for you to be tackled by a swarm of flies.

"Blood bag!"

Excuse me?

Pressing her nose to your neck, the lady on top of you buzzed with excitement. When you came back to your senses, you realised that she was the second daughter, Cassandra.

As she got off you, you quickly straightened yourself out. "Lady Cassandra, is there something I can help you with?" You questioned, tilting your head. Your lady giggled, stepping closer to you.

"I want your blood," she grinned. You backed away until your back hit the wall behind you. She pressed you against it, leaning her face into your neck. "You don't mind if I take a bite... do you?"

Before you could answer, she had already sunk her fangs into your skin. You grimaced from the slight sting, trying to remain calm. Alright, so you're being eaten right now, totally fine.

"Hm, I thought your blood was good the other day... but tasting it directly from the source is on a completely different level...!" She lapped up the remaining blood on your wound, and you felt yourself flush at the sight.

"Cassandra?! Come here, now!" A voice boomed from somewhere in the castle. Your lady glanced to the side, placing something in your pocket before swarming away. Now that she was gone, you took some time to process what just happened.

"What the heck?"

You reached for the item she placed in your pocket, taking it out to see what it was... a little first aid bottle and a small note. You opened up the note, reading the contents of it.

"Come to my room at 8 pm sharp, don't be late, pet.
- C.D."

You were going to head to her room at 8 pm, until you realised you had no idea where it was. Because of that, you decided to ask the head maiden... who was even more terrified when you asked the question.

"Why do you want to know? Did she ask you to go there? Did you do something wrong?!"

You assured her that you didn't break anything or leave one of the windows open, before she finally agreed to lead you to the room.

On the way, you had small talk with the maiden because "she wanted to know more about you before you died". You didn't get what she was talking about, but you were happy to make a friend.

What you didn't expect was for your lady to have spotted the two of you talking... the next thing you knew, you were being shoved into a room and a scream came from outside.

When Cassandra entered the room again, she looked pissed. The blood on her face didn't look dry... she didn't... kill her, did she?

"No, I didn't. I let my sisters take her to the dungeon,"

Oh.

"So, why were you talking to her?" Her voice lowered, as her gaze pierced into you. If looks could kill, you'd be dead.

"She was just being friendly..."

"Too friendly, clearly," she huffed, crossing her arms and turning to the side. Was she... jealous?

"I don't want you to be talking to other maidens anymore... at least, not more than five sentences," she said, holding up five fingers to emphasise her point.

"I- Uhm, alright," you quickly agreed, to not anger her further. She seemed to be satisfied with your answer only then.

"Now, as for what I called you here for..."

She smirked, approaching you.

It was the best day of your life.
