Beyond the window

Chapter 8: Mixed signals

Someone whose voice was familiar to Sarah called out her name. As she felt like it was Zaim's voice, she turned back without hesitation, and to her surprise, it was indeed Zaim. When Zaim saw her for the first time, he was immediately smitten. She was stunningly beautiful. Zaim was accompanied by the person Sarah had asked about earlier.

Sarah was overjoyed to see Zaim and ran towards him, exclaiming excitedly, "Hey Zaim! I found you! I thought we were from different universes. I'm so happy to see you!" She hugged him with excitement . Zaim, pushed her back,Sarah said, sorry I hugged because of excitement.however, he was perplexed, wondering, "What is she talking about? And who is she?" But as he had already fallen for her, he played along.

Sarah said, "When I saw you last time, I waited for you, but when you came back, the window was closed. But it's okay, because we met again. I think we can only meet again on Sundays, but it's really great to see you." Zaim thought to himself, "What is she saying? What's with the window? I don't get it. Is she mistaking me for someone else? But how is that possible, since she said she's seen me before?" Then, a thought struck him, "Aha! She's behaving like she knows me because she has feelings for me.

Zaim said, "Do you think I'll fall for your tricks? I've got many proposals, so don't try to fool me around. I know what you want." Sarah smiled and said, "Oh, I'm the one trying to trick you, right?" (In her mind, she thought Zaim was playing along to make her smile.) Zaim said, "What are you saying? I've seen many girls like you, so stop it. I have no interest in you." (Actually, he did.) He added, "I'm going," and walked away.

Sarah called out to him, "Are you really not the Zaim?" He replied, "Yes, I'm Zaim, but your tricks won't work on me."

Sarah thought to herself, "Ooh, then let's test him. I don't believe he's not Zaim, because he looks exactly like him." She planned to test him to see if he was really the Zaim she knew.

In the canteen, Zaim spotted Riya sitting there and called out to her, "Hey Riya!" She looked up and smiled, saying, "Come here, I'll buy you your favorite rose milk!" Zaim's face lit up, and he eagerly accepted her offer, saying, "Haha, I'm coming!" They chatted playfully, as usual.

However, when Aizam saw them, he walked away, ignoring them. Riya noticed this and said to Zaim, "You should patch things up with him." Zaim replied, "Let's not talk about it." He then asked, "How's your relationship going with him?" Riya said, "We're good now."

Zaim smiled and said, "That's good." He then added, "I've got a new friend, Sarah. It's really crazy." Just as he was about to share more about her, Arjun came over and said, "Let's go play football. We have PT next hour."

As Arjun saw the rose milk in Zaim's hand, he snatched it without hesitation. Zaim protested, "That's mine, you idiot! Get lost!" Arjun exclaimed, "I want it!" Zaim looked at Riya with a smile and said, "She bought it for me." Arjun acted childishly, saying, "I also want it!" Riya chuckled and said, "Okay, okay, I'll buy you one too." Zaim asked, "Don't you want to play football?" Arjun replied, "That's for the next hour. It's break time, let's enjoy!" They continued talking and laughing without a care.

Meanwhile, as Aizam walked in front of Zaim's home, he ran into Zaim's mother. They exchanged greetings, and Zaim's mother mentioned that the previous day was Zaim's grandmother's death anniversary. Aizam was taken aback, asking, "When did Granny pass away?" Zaim's mother replied, "It's been a year. You didn't know, did you?" Aizam looked puzzled.

Zaim's mother continued, "I've been meaning to ask you, why haven't you been visiting us for so long? What happened? Did you and Zaim have a fight?" Aizam reassured her, "No, we're good." However, Zaim's mother began to cry, recalling the events of the night Zaim's grandmother passed away.

She explained that they had tried to call Zaim, but he was busy calling someone else. When he finally answered, she didn't tell him that his grandmother had passed away, only that she was in a serious condition. Zaim rushed to their home as fast as he could. When he arrived and learned of his grandmother's passing, he tried to call Aizam, but Aizam hadn't answered.

They talked for some more time, and Aizam listened intently to Zaim's mother. As he walked away, he thought about what Zaim's mother had said earlier. Zaim's mother had mentioned that Zaim had said something strange around the time of his grandmother's funeral. Zaim had mentioned that he was supposed to pick up Riya that day, but when he received the news about his grandmother, he came home instead. Aizam thought to himself, "Is what Zaim said true? Did I misunderstand him?"..
