The sun had just begun to set, casting golden hues across the cozy living room of their shared home. Suzune sat on the edge of the couch, her hands clasped tightly around a small plastic object. Her heart raced, a mix of anticipation, nervousness, and excitement swirling within her. Kiyotaka, seated nearby with a book in hand, glanced up, noticing the unusual tension in her demeanor.
"You've been quiet for a while," he said calmly, setting the book down. "Is something wrong?"
Suzune looked up, her amber eyes shimmering with an intensity he rarely saw. "Kiyo..." she began, her voice trembling slightly.
Kiyotaka's brow furrowed in concern. He leaned forward, his usually unreadable expression softening. "What is it?"
She hesitated for a moment before holding out the object in her hand. It was a pregnancy test, and the two unmistakable pink lines stared back at him.
For a brief moment, the world seemed to stand still. Kiyotaka's eyes widened ever so slightly, a rare display of surprise crossing his face. Then, as the realization sank in, a warm, genuine smile spread across his lips.
"Suzune," he said softly, his tone filled with wonder. "You're... pregnant?"
The tears came before she could even respond. They welled up in her eyes, spilling over as she nodded fervently. "I'm pregnant, Kiyo. We're going to have a baby."
Her voice broke on the last word, and suddenly she was overwhelmed. All the emotions she had been holding back came rushing to the surface—joy, disbelief, and a love so deep it felt like it could burst from her chest.
Kiyotaka barely had time to process her tears before Suzune launched herself at him, pinning him down on the sofa with surprising force. She buried her face in his chest, her shoulders shaking as she sobbed uncontrollably.
"Kiyo... I'm so happy," she choked out between sobs. "I didn't think I could ever feel like this. I didn't think something so perfect could happen to us."
Kiyotaka wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as his own emotions swirled within him. He wasn't one to outwardly show much, but in this moment, he felt an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude.
Suzune pulled back just enough to look at him, her tear-streaked face glowing with happiness. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Thank you for being with me, for loving me, for giving me this."
Kiyotaka reached up, gently brushing away her tears with his thumb. "I should be the one thanking you," he said softly. "You've made my life brighter in every way. And now... we're starting a family."
Her tears only flowed harder at his words. She pulled his head to her chest, hugging him so tightly it was as if she never wanted to let go. "I'm going to keep you right here," she murmured, her voice muffled by emotion. "All day. You're mine, Kiyo. Always mine."
He chuckled lightly, his breath warm against her skin. "I'm not going anywhere, Suzune."
They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, wrapped up in each other and the moment. But then Suzune suddenly pulled back, a playful yet dangerous glint in her tear-filled eyes.
"Kiyo," she said, her tone shifting to something colder. "If you ever cheat on me..." She leaned in close, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I'll cut it off. Do you understand?"
Kiyotaka blinked, his expression as calm as ever despite her words. "I would never cheat on you, Suzune," he said simply, his voice steady.
She studied him for a moment before her face softened again, and she let out a breathy laugh. "Good. Because I meant it."
