Red room. Chains. Sharp thorns piercing my skin. I was lost and unsure of where I was. A piercing scream was heard as I ran towards the sound, to see my sister tied up. "MEL!" I cried out, but just like first time I wasn't able to get to her at the eulogy breakout, a long string of thorns held me back. "I don't think so" a voice whispered, as one of the thorns wrapped around my throat. "No, no please don't hurt her. I beg you" Mel pleaded. Then suddenly, I was dropped into a hole, while my sister followed suit.
It seemed like an hour until I was awaken by my sister calling out my name. "Semona? Semona! Wake up" she called out to me, lifting my eyelids. "Where are we? What happened? I asked, still feeling dazed. "I don't know where we are. It seems like we've been captured by the Black Rose" my sister answered, as she helped me up. "The Black Rose?" I asked again, curious to know who they were. "They're a dark organisation from our hometown that values power and might" she answered, again. Suddenly, we was interrupted by a deep voice. "Hope you find these quarters to your liking. They still haven't replied to my requests for a transfer". "Who's there?" my sister asked we both looked around for the source of the voice. "Not sure I know anymore. Our hosts have a way of scrambling your omelet" he spoke, as my sister looked shaken.
"They killed my friend. Elora was there, And then..." Mel spoke, as I put my hand on her shoulder while also wiping the tears from my face. "Ah. The stewards of the old world are always keen to give you a glimpse of their might" the man spoke again. "What is this place?" I asked him, now facing his direction. "Near as I can tell, an Oculorum. According to legend, the ancients built specialised chambers to seal away false prophets" he laughed before continuing. "But if you ask me, they're just the fancy pits peacock princes like to toss their friends into". "Peacock princes?" Mel asked him. "Sorry, just an old family joke. You know, the kind of rulers with an artistic flair." he replied, as I began to feel annoyed with his unseen presence. "Who are you?! Step into the light!" I replied, with a sharp tone in my throat, as the man stepped out of the shadows, barefooted. Both my sister and I could not believe the sight that fell upon us. "Kino?" Mel replied, as she ran up to him to give him a hug, but I couldn't move, sensing that something felt off. "It's me, brother. Mel." she replied again, as Kino began to relax. "Mel! You've grown up." he replied, as they both shared an intimate moment.
After they hugged each other, Kino's eyes fell upon me, as Mel reassured me that it was really him. "Semona! Little sister, is that really you?" he spoke, as I slowly walked up to him. "Is it...really you..Kino?" I choked, as he came up to me and cupped my face into his hands. "It is, sister. It is" Kino confidently replied, as tears fell to my eyes again and embraced my brother in a tight hug. "I missed you so much! I thought you were dead!" I replied, as he looked at me. "You've grown up a lot too! You're not that little chubby girl I once knew" he chucked, as I lightly slapped him. "I hope they'd never come for you both" he continued. We all sat down against the wall silently, whilst I lightly picked against the floor. "There was a funeral for you in Noxus. "Mel replied. "Oh. Did Mother commission a statue?" Kino asked, laughing to myself, as I too laughed at his remark. "I held rites in Piltover. She believes you're dead" Mel said. "I do like to disappoint her" Kino replied. "As do I" I laughed.
All of a sudden, my headaches started to happen again. "Are you alright, little sis?" Kino asked, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Yeah, I just keep getting these headaches, like a burning sensation. I can't really explain. I just feel a little different" I replied. Then, a part of the wall started to open, like a slot. "How did you do that?" he asked, turning his attention to Mel. "I don't know . I just felt...It's like some sort of puzzle. Kino, what happened to you?" Mel asked. "Yeah, how did you end up down here?" I also asked. "She didn't tell you both? After a few rounds with some dubious noblefolk in Basilich, I started hearing strange rumours about Mother. Different than the usual kind. They said, many years ago, she passed through their hometown and..fell in love" he replied, as I scoffed to myself. "Well, that doesn't sound like our mother" I stated. All of a sudden, Kino moved from his original spot and was standing behind us. "Indeed. But the more I inquired, the more I started believing it.
The old travel logs. The local accounts. I should have left it alone, but...the affair led to a child" he responded, as Mel stumbled back. "So...if Mother had an affair, giving birth to Mel, then...are we even real blood siblings?" I asked. "Of course, little sis. We just all have the same mother, different fathers" Kino answered, but I still had more burning questions, with only one coming to mind. "But if Mel's father is from Basillich, what about my father?" I asked, Kino now stepping closer to me. "You...both have the same father" he answered, as I too stumbled backwards. "Wait, wait...so..Mother had the same affair...twice?!" I asked, still feeling stunned. "It appears she did, Semona" Mel answered me. "It is the reason we are all here. Simply put, whatever that child inherited is of terrible interest to our captors" Kino replied. I started to walk away whilst holding my stomach, feeling like I was going to be sick.
"I'm getting us out of here" Mel responded, as she began to play around with the slots on the wall. "Say this is some sort of sordid labyrinth. Usually there are consequences for someone who fails these tests. Deadly consequences" Kino replied. "I deserve to know the truth. We all do" Mel said. "Of course. Makes you wonder why she kept this from both of you, doesn't it? For all these years?" he said. "I'm missing something" Mel replied. Then Kino's voice became distorted, as my gut started to twist in a knot. "A healthy sense of self-preservation, I'd say". All of a sudden, my headaches started happening again, but with more intensity. I could see Mel's blurry figure from afar, as she looked at me and back at Kino. Then as I opened my eyes, everything was yellow-orange coloured, as I continued to rub them. The room began to fill with the same red thorns from earlier as both me and my sister were captured and chained severely.
"We had such high hopes for him" a woman's voice spoke. "At first, it seemed plausible that he could have been the child. But then your mother, led us to you. Both of you! Sisters". I could barely breathe as the chain of thorns wrapped around my neck. A rage began to consume Mel as a yellow glow surrounded us and the chains exploded and my sister's armour began to change and we found ourselves in another world.
So...although this chapter didn't have Ekko in it, the next chapter will definitely focus on scenes from Act 3 Ep 7 and 9. I had re-edited a few changes in the previous chapters and hope to continue this story with Ekko and Semona since I've finished watching Arcane now.
