I woke up to the sound of yet again, my sister calling out to me, as I slowly lifted my eyelids. "You have it too?" my sister replied, as I looked at her confused. A glass-like glow covered my pupils as I rubbed them until it returned to normal. I was still in my normal outfit but Mel looked completely different! "Why are you dressed like that?! And where are we?! I asked her, as she shook her head, whilst looking at her arms, which were almost covered in gold. I looked at my own arms, which also had a few gold casings on it and deep golden freckles on my face.
"Drink the moment, sisters" a voice spoke, as it continued. "There is no time like your first". "We're...one of you?" I asked. "We each have our own expressions. Yours is quite rare. An empath" she said, looking at Mel, and then looked at me. "However, you, I'm not sure what you are. But you are something." she said, circling around me. "So...I'm not like my sister?" I asked. "In a way, yes, but not exactly. You don't have powers. Your power has merit Miss Medarda. But should one want you dead, a simple blade would do nicely" she spoke, shifting into the form of Kino. "Where is our brother?" Mel asked. "Regrettably, his fate wasn't among your mother's lies" she spoke, as I stumbled backwards. "S-so....you killed him?" I asked shakily, as my sister put her hand on my shoulder. "I gave Ambessa every opportunity to atone for her transgressions. She chose pride over progeny. But you need not bear her crimes" she spoke again, shifting into an exact copy of my sister.
"The test. This whole charade. You want to recruit me." Mel scoffed. "Your talents developed quickly. It's not coincidence. The Arcane is waking up." "I constantly have visions, along with the headaches of a place called the Arcane. What has our mother done?" I asked the sorceress, wanting to know. "A calamity is approaching, rivalling even the ancient Rune wars. Ambessa sits at the helm, blinded by her thirst for legacy. Our efforts to divert her course have foundered. We can't afford another failure. Today you've both been born into a new family, particularly you Mel, from which you'll find there is sadly no return . Those untouched by the Arcane fear us." she said, presenting a necklace to Mel.
"What is this?" she asked. "A welcome to your future", the sorceress spoke. "Um, I don't know about this sis. I don't trust her". I replied. Mel sighed and said. "I know, but Mother has lied to me, to us, for far too long!" I wasn't able to convince her but she wasn't wrong, as she placed the necklace around her neck, and both of us headed back to Piltover.
"So what now?" I asked. "I need to find Jayce, see if he's back at the council. So much has happened" she said. "I think I also need a minute to digest everything. I mean, you're a empath and me? I don't even know what I am. All I know is that I get visions from time to time. This is honestly too much." I said, rubbing my temples. "Why don't you rest up a bit in my quarters?" Mel suggested, as I agreed. "Yeah, sure, I'll do that.
Once I got to my sister's room, a vision began to cloud of my mind, as I began to see Ekko, with the Z-drive in his hand and in some sort of lair...
Ekko POV
Once I got back to reality, I headed straight for Jinx's lair, now knowing where it was located. Upon arriving, I spotted her trying to kill herself as I quickly used my Z-drive to rewind back 4 seconds. "WAIT!" I shouted, as she looked at me, with a stunned but emotionless expression. "I just wanna talk to you" I replied. "Get out of here, Ekko." she said, pulling the bomb again and again and again and again. The only downside is that once I continued to rewind back time, I sustained a few injuries from the effects of the explosion. "Always a dance with you." I joked, but she didn't seem to laugh. "I think I'm just gonna sit here a minute. You know, catch my breath. See if I can talk an old friend out of blowing us up" I replied, breathing heavily and hoping she wouldn't trigger the bomb again. "I'm tired of talking" she said, as she jumped off the building, and I rewinded back time again.
