Manvika sat quietly in her room, her eyes fixed on the faint patterns of light filtering through the curtains. Her chest felt heavy, her heart weighed down by the sting of Sumiksha's words earlier that day. The reaction she'd received wasn't just unexpected-it was shattering. Each moment replayed in her mind like a cruel echo, dragging her deeper into the abyss of doubt and sorrow.
A soft knock at the door pulled her out of her thoughts, though the ache in her chest lingered. She wiped her face quickly, forcing herself to appear composed.
As the door creaked open, Akshi, Mrinal, Grey, Anika, and Ranvijay stood there, their presence radiating warmth and concern. Alongside them were three little bundles of joy-Krishi, Ishi, and Ritansh-whose innocent smiles made the room feel a little brighter. They had come together, a makeshift family united by love and loyalty.
"Dekho, hum samajh gaye ki tum sangeet mein nahi jaane waali. Toh humne socha, kyun na sangeet yahin mana le?" Anika declared with a playful grin.
Before Manvika could respond, Anika stepped forward and scooped her into her arms. "Uff, you've gotten heavier, Manvika!" she teased, her tone light and teasing, though her gaze was full of affection.
Manvika's cheeks turned crimson, and she mumbled a soft protest, but her heart swelled. She had spent so long hiding her emotions that the love surrounding her now felt almost overwhelming.
"Side, please," Anika quipped to Grey, who moved aside dramatically as Anika carried Manvika to the terrace.
As they stepped outside, the sight before her left Manvika speechless. The terrace had been transformed into a magical haven. Strings of fairy lights intertwined with fresh flowers cast a soft, ethereal glow over the space. Candles flickered gently in the evening breeze, and a cozy seating area had been arranged.
The most striking detail, however, were the photographs-moments frozen in time, adorning the walls like pieces of her soul. There were pictures of her as a child, some with her family before everything fell apart, and others taken after her life had irrevocably changed. There were candid photos of her and Ishaan, and several during her pregnancy, capturing moments of quiet joy and strength.
Manvika's eyes lingered on those pregnancy photos. The joy of those days now seemed bittersweet. She swallowed hard, but beside her, Anika's gaze had grown distant.
Unconsciously, Anika placed a hand on her belly, a flicker of pain flashing across her face. Memories of her own struggles, sacrifices, and the love she had fought to protect filled her heart.
"Mumma, Chachi," came the sweet voices of Krishi and Ishi, breaking the silence. Anika turned toward them, her lips curling into a smile, though her eyes glistened with unspoken sorrow.
Manvika rested her head on Anika's shoulder, wrapping her arms tightly around her. "Humari bhi toh babies hain," she murmured softly, her voice trembling.
"Kash Mumma aur Kaka bhi hote," Manvika's voice faded into a whisper, the weight of her words pressing down on her.
Anika blinked back her tears and placed a comforting hand over Manvika's. "We've always been here for each other, haven't we? Chahat ne Manvika ko kuch hone nahi diya, aur Anika ne Manali ko," she said with a faint, bittersweet smile. Yet, the pain in her eyes betrayed the ache she carried within.
Ranvijay approached them, his large, protective hands resting on their heads as he enveloped them both in a hug. His voice, deep and steady, broke the fragile silence. "Kal meri dono bachiyan vida ho jayengi," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "Dekh Sanjay, hamari chhoti-si rajkumariyan kitni badi ho gayi."
That was the breaking point. Manvika and Anika clung to him, their tears flowing freely now, soaking into the fabric of his kurta. After years of separation, struggles, and rebuilding, this moment of unity felt both healing and heartbreaking. They had found solace in each other, yet tomorrow, the ties that bound them would shift as Manvika began a new chapter.
