The atmosphere inside the room remained heavy after the officers left. Taehyung sat slumped on the couch, his hands tangled in his hair, while Kylie paced nervously by the window. Y/n leaned against the dining table, her mind racing with thoughts about the allegations.

"Why tonight? Why like this?" Kylie muttered under her breath, her arms crossed tightly over her chest.

"They probably didn't want to risk anyone hiding evidence," Y/n replied, her voice calm but firm. "It's normal in cases like this."

Taehyung looked up, his face pale. "Normal?" His voice cracked slightly. "None of this is normal, Y/n. They're talking about my father as if he's some kind of criminal!"

Y/n met his gaze, her heart sinking at the frustration and pain in his eyes. "I know it's hard to hear, Taehyung, but we can't jump to conclusions. We don't know the full story yet."

He let out a shaky breath, nodding slightly. "But why me? Why did they come to me first?"

"Because you're his son," Y/n said gently. "They think you might know something."

Kylie stopped pacing and turned toward them, her brows furrowed. "Do you? I mean, did your dad ever mention anything strange about his business?"

Taehyung shook his head, looking genuinely lost. "No, never. My father always kept work and family separate. I barely know what he does day-to-day."

"Then we'll start there," Y/n said, her tone decisive. "We'll gather information, figure out what's going on, and build a plan."

Taehyung hesitated, then nodded. "I trust you, Y/n."

Kylie cleared her throat, her usual sass returning. "Okay, so what's step one, Lawyer Extraordinaire?"

Y/n allowed herself a small smile. "Step one is staying calm. Step two is figuring out exactly what evidence the police might have. If we can understand their angle, we'll know how to defend against it."

Kylie smirked. "Sounds solid. Step three: survive the night without having a heart attack."

The joke was weak, but it broke a bit of the tension. Taehyung gave a faint smile, and Y/n exhaled, grateful for Kylie's attempt to lighten the mood.

The group decided to stay up, unable to shake the nerves from their unexpected visitors. Kylie suggested ordering food, and soon the table was filled with takeout containers.

"Comfort food," Kylie announced, stuffing a fry into her mouth. "Not that it'll solve anything, but hey, fries make everything better."

Taehyung poked at his food, barely eating. His mind was elsewhere, and Y/n couldn't blame him. She reached across the table and lightly tapped his hand.

"You need to eat," she said softly.

He glanced at her, then sighed. "I'm not hungry."

"Starving yourself won't help," she insisted. "You'll need your strength tomorrow."

Kylie chimed in, waving a piece of chicken. "Yeah, and besides, you don't want me eating your share. I can and will."

A small laugh escaped Taehyung, and Y/n felt a flicker of relief. At least he wasn't completely shutting down.

As the clock ticked past midnight, the group decided to wind down. Kylie claimed the couch, leaving Taehyung and Y/n to share the bed in his guest room.

"You can take the bed," Taehyung offered awkwardly, standing by the doorway.

"And where will you sleep? On the floor?" Y/n raised an eyebrow.
