SMUT
The shack of a hotel reeked of mildew and bad decisions. Jinx shoved me inside with a playful shove, her giggle echoing off the peeling walls. "Ta-da! Your five-star prison for the night!" she announced, spinning on her heel and flopping down onto the single bed in the room.
The journey here had been hell. Kidnapped straight out of Piltover, hands still sore from the restraints she'd slapped on me earlier, I could barely keep up with her erratic pace through Zaun's winding streets.
Her orders were clear: get me to Silco, alive. What happens after that? Probably nothing good.
"You can't honestly expect me to sleep in the same room as you," I snapped, tugging my wrist where faint marks of her cuffs still lingered. She waved me off lazily, fiddling with the giant rocket launcher she'd leaned against the nightstand.
"Relax," she grinned. "It's not like I'm gonna murder you in your sleep. That'd ruin all the fun of tomorrow."
That sharp-toothed smirk of hers sent a chill down my spine. Jinx thrived on chaos, her erratic energy making it impossible to tell when she was joking or deadly serious. It was exhausting, being her captive.. but a small, terrifying part of me couldn't deny how magnetic she was.
She rolled onto her stomach, propping her chin in her hands and giving me a mock-innocent look. "Unless you wanna take the floor. Be my guest."
I glanced at the filthy rug, littered with who-knows-what. "That's disgusting."
"Suit yourself!" she chirped, spreading out across the bed dramatically. "Guess I'll just have to hog the mattress."
I stood there, glaring, as she started humming to herself. A disjointed melody that was somehow more unnerving than the silence. "There's one bed," I pointed out, as if she hadn't noticed.
"Wow, you're observant," she shot back, rolling her eyes. "Tell you what: I'll let you share if you promise not to stab me in my sleep." She snorted. "Oh wait, you can't! You don't have any weapons. Lucky me."
Her taunts were insufferable, but she was right. Unarmed, exhausted, and out of options, there wasn't much I could do except play along. My legs gave out as I slumped into the chair across the room. "You're unbelievable."
"Aw, thanks," she said brightly, her mismatched eyes glinting with mischief. "I try."
Hours later, the room had gone quiet. The rocket launcher was dismantled, Jinx's tinkering tools scattered across the bed.
She'd stayed oddly focused for most of the evening, only pausing to throw the occasional taunt my way. But now, as the flickering light bulb above us buzzed softly, she sat cross-legged on the mattress, studying me like a predator sizing up its prey.
"You're quiet," she observed, her voice softer than usual. "Planning something?"
"Yeah, planning how to survive whatever fresh hell tomorrow brings," I muttered.
Her expression darkened, and for a moment, the manic gleam in her eyes flickered. "You think I want to drag you into this?" she said, almost too quietly. "You're just going to be a pawn in Silco's game."
It was the first time she'd dropped the act, even slightly. I didn't trust it, not entirely, but the rawness in her voice caught me off guard. "You don't have to follow his orders, you know."
She barked out a laugh, leaning back against the headboard. "You think I've got a choice? This is the deal. Silco raised me. He gives me what I need, and I do what he says. No 'ifs,' 'ands,' or 'buts.'" Her pink-red eyes narrowed. "And if that means hauling your pretty little ass across Zaun, then that's what I'm gonna do."
