Part 1 Family.

-Location: Victoria housekeeping co. cafe.-

"Yeah coming." Ellen spoke with a lazy longed voice with an eye roll, serving the customer the omelet rice and putting the ketchup, "Do you want me to put a spell that makes it tasty?" after doing the 'moe moe kyun' for the customer, the usual job. She goes to the next customer. "So this is what job you were doing?" Kane says, adjusting his white-cap up. Ellen was slightly surprised, "Uncle Kane?" she spoke. Kane sighs, "Perhaps after your father left for New York after you became a teenager, I guess you were in a bit of a hurry for currency." he said with a concerned yet straightforward tone. Ellen flinched slightly, her father was quite a sensitive topic. "Yeah, I guess you can say that." She spoke with her usual demeanor trying to hide sorrow. "When do you have your lunch break Ellen?" Kane said with a friendly tone. Ellen looks at the clock on the counter, "in 12 minutes." she said with a long sigh. Kane laughs softly with a small smile, "I have some news to tell you. It's good news." he spoke with genuine empathy, (although his voice is still deep and can tell only a small difference). After a short while, Ellen was having a boba tea that Kane bought, she spoke with genuine relief, "You don't know how much this is helping me." Kane nodded, "Did you see father fighting the colossal ethereal?" Ellen flinched again and slightly nodded, "Yeah, I was a bit worried, he was beaten up quite a lot." Kane nodded again, "Well he will be returning to New Eridu in a few weeks." Ellen's eyes widen, while Kane continues, "Isn't it nice, your father finally returning back home?" Ellen looked away to the side slightly, yes, she was happy, but she was also slightly angered and upset. These mixed feelings whirl around her mind. Kane knew what she was thinking. "I know you're upset about your father, that he wasn't always there for you. But he just fought a battle that almost took his life." She sighed, "Yeah I know." She said with a slightly pained expression, "But it doesn't make it any less painful Unc." Kane nods slightly and sighs. He clearly knew how she felt, so he decided to not drag more about this touchy topic. "Just one more thing." he said with a genuine tone, "Your father always loved you. It's just things have been changing left and right for him, he quit his place because of the job's pressure and all of his plans of traveling back to New Eridu all got canceled due to the tight hollow patrol schedules. You know how busy your father was. You can hate him or be angry, that is totally okay. But first understand how he is feeling about all that. If you're so angry and hate your father, then you wouldn't care about that? Would you?" Ellen shook her head in response, no. She did not hate or not care for her father. Kane continues, "Then understand him. Okay? He has a hard time protecting the world and us. But now he has time for you and your mother, all the time in the world. Even if you don't forgive him now, you'll forgive him later someday. Forgiveness takes time." He pats Ellen's shoulder. "Well I have to go Ellen, good luck on your shift." Kane says with a small smile waving his hand slightly while leaving.

Kane returns to the N.E.P.S. department and met with Zhu Yuan. "So a case has happened already? Guess the first day of the job isn't easier than expected in the first half." Kane spoke with mumble. Zhu Yuan explains, "Right now in the hollow, several merchant bangboos have been shot by 7.62x51mm bullets, however these bullets are very strange looking." Kane identified it, "Injection bullets. Code injection. It is a high-quality tech." Zhu Yuan was confused and spoke with a questioning expression, "Wait, what?" Kane looked to the side and answered, "Oh right, you won't know since this type of tech is not used commonly. Code injection when it injects to any machine, the code injected will reformat the script depending on its type. This was used back then in the old capital after bangboos were first made. So that's why you wouldn't probably know. It's kind of old fashioned." Zhu Yuan nodded, "I see," She replied. "So these are the locations of where the sniper had shot the bangboo merchants. I can see where the location is roughly, but let's go to the scene to first confirm the location." Zhu Yuan sighs, "Alright, let's start the investigation tomorrow. Thanks Senior Kane." she said with genuine thanks. "Of course, it's the best for New Eridu." Kane answers. Kane adjusted his cap and was leaving, perhaps he'll buy something for Ellen while wandering around Lumina square. The first case Kane has to solve for New Eridu. He puts a few dennies in the vending machine and gets a lemonade soda (So that's where Ellen's habit of sugar intake came from).
