Location.....Acid Dead Pool.....

the edge of the acid pits were lined with bloodied skulls and other pieces of skeletons. It is the Dead Pool. Sheeva walked across the sole walkway in the area, accompanied by Jaune, Fujin, Nightwolf, and the Shokan-disguised Shang Tsung, the latter two carrying the coffin between them.

"We've made it this far," Sheeva said as she pointed ahead of her. "There's a stairway beyond those doors, and at the top..."

"The Soul Chamber," Shang Tsung said through his Shokan-disguised voice. His eyes glowed with soul-powered energy. "I feel it."

"We need to pick up the pace," Jaune recommended while hanging in the back of the group as their recon. "The sooner we get this done, the less conflict we'll-"

As they walked across the chamber, another voice sounded out behind them.

"So there he was, neck deep in shit, cowering in the business end of an outhouse..."

Jaune immediately stopped, recognizing the southern accent that could only belong to one gunslinger in Outworld.

The Tarkatans' raucous laughter echoed throughout his speech. Sheeva and Fujin stopped and turned around at the noise.

"...he picked a bad place to hide...and an even worse place to die."

Erron Black walked into the Dead Pool as he drew one of his pistols. Baraka followed him, scraping one of his arm blades across the side of a nearby wall. Behind him were five other Tarkatans as they approached the group.

"Sheeva!" Baraka called out to the Shokan queen.

"Follow my lead," Sheeva said to Fujin and Jaune as they approached the Outworld agents.

"Earthrealmers, Sheeva, and a coffin. What secret did you plan to bury here?" Baraka asked, demanding answers.

"It is the Kahn's business, Baraka," Sheeva replied.

"We're equal partners, remember?" Baraka reminded her as he approached Sheeva. "The Kahn's business is my business."

The head Tarkatan then walked over to the disguised Shang Tsung, who did not turn to face him. His face was nervous as Baraka stood behind him, looking over his shoulder. After a few moments, the Tarkatan spoke to him behind his back.

"You are not Shokan..." Baraka said as he breathed in deeply, sniffing the air around the disguised sorcerer.

"....I know that scent..."

Shang Tsung began to worry.

"Smells like........SHANG TSUNG!"

Tsung's eyes widened in shock, but he reacted too late. Baraka immediately brought out his arm blade and stabbed him in the back. With little effort, Baraka raised him, still impaled on the blade. The pain proves too much, and Shang Tsung reverts to his human form. Baraka pulls the blade out, and Tsung falls to his knees, a hand grasping at his open wound.

"Well, there goes our cover," Jaune said as he rested a hand wrapped around his sword handle, stored in the sheath attached to his belt.

"I knew we should've gone through the underground," Nightwolf added.

The other Tarkatans stepped forward, drawing their arm blades as well. Baraka stepped back next to them and Erron Black.

"How's that for strange bedfellows," Erron commented as he drew his pistols, pointing them both at Jaune and the others. "Whaddya say we skip the preliminaries, and y'all come with us quietly? We'll have a nice friendly chat with Kitana Kahn."
