A strange buzzing of excitement, mostly by the girls, was surrounding the whole of Hogwarts, the day of the Yule Ball had finally came. There was still two hours to go though.
Draco was striding down the hallways, In deep discussion with Blaise. By the looks of it, you'd think they were having an argument but if you know them better, you know they're just having a normal conversation. Blaise was still questioning Draco about her choice as Holly as his date, since she's a Gryffindor because well... Gryffindors and Slytherins aren't usually on first name terms.
"Mate, she's good-looking and all but you could've picked someone else." Blaise raised an eyebrow and looked at Draco. "Someone else, as in? You don't mean Pansy Parkinson, do you?" Draco sneered when he said her name as if it physically pained him to say it.
"Weren't you with her, though?" Blaise asked, quite confused as to why Draco was reacting that way. For the longest time he had thought that the two of them were together. "Oh, please. I was bored and she was alone. I only jokingly flirted with her. Did you think I actually liked her?" Draco chuckled dryly at the last part. He wouldn't even imagine to be in a serious relationship with Pansy of all girls. Hell, he'd rather get kissed by a Dementor than her.
"What about Black?" Blaise asked, referring to Holly as he matched Draco's pace. Draco thought of it for a moment, Holly was one of the girls he was actually interested in, she intrigued him but of course he wouldn't admit that to Blaise.
"I only asked her to the ball because I felt bad." He said, pouting mockingly. "Poor girl got rejected by Diggory." Blaise actually laughed at that and they kept walking, apparently going nowhere at all.***
Draco was standing by the enormous staircase, checking his watch from time to time. The Yule Ball is about to start and there is still no sight of Holly anywhere. Has she ditched him? He looks around the room, his sharp features illuminated by the moonlight streaming in from the window near him. He was getting really impatient, where is she? "Ah, to hell with it."He started striding around the place looking for Holly but she was still nowhere to be seen, he got so desperate that he asked a random Gryffindor for her whereabouts but the Gryffindor only glared at him.
Feeling hopeless, he made his way over to Blaise. Blaise turned to look at him, amused. "Let me guess. She ditched you?" Draco scowled at him before replying, "No, she didn't. I just.. don't see her anywhere." He said this, uncertainly. Maybe she did ditch him. Just when he was really starting to overthink it, Blaise suddenly said, wide eyed. "Is that her...?" Draco turned towards the direction Blaise was staring at and his jaw went slack.
Holly walked down the stairs, looking ethereal. She had her hair in an elegant knot on the back of her head, a few loose strands of hair framing her face perfectly. She was wearing an absolutely gorgeous emerald green gown that contrasted amazingly to her gold jewelry. She was truly looking like some sort of Greek Goddess.Draco composed himself slightly and his eyes travelled over her, unable to stop himself. When she got down the stairs, Draco approached her and took her arm in his.
"You look absolutely... breathtaking." He said, amazed at his own luck. And with that, they made their way into the Great Hall.
