Kimberly sat on the edge of her chair, her eyes fixed on Harry's pale, sleeping figure in the hospital wing. Sirius was captured, and the weight of her failure pressed heavily on her chest. She had tried—begged, even—for Snape to intervene, but he had refused, citing constraints she didn't care to understand. Their heated argument had ended with her shoving him out of the hospital wing, unable to bear his presence any longer.

"I've told you, Kimberly, there was nothing I could do. You think I don't care? That I don't want him safe?" — Snape

"You didn't even try! You just stood there and lectured me about 'foolish Gryffindor recklessness' while Sirius—he's going to be—" — Kimberly

"Enough! Do you think I don't know what's at stake? I cannot simply act on impulse like you! There are forces at play that you cannot comprehend—" — Snape

"Don't you dare patronize me! Don't act like this is about strategy or 'forces' or whatever excuse you're using this time. This is about you refusing to help because it's Sirius!" — Kimberly

"You hate him so much you couldn't even look past it to save him. You let your grudge matter more than Harry—more than me!" — Kimberly

"You know nothing of the sacrifices I've made! You think this is easy for me? Watching you risk your life, time and time again, for causes that will destroy you?" — Snape

"Then act like it matters. Act like I matter. Because standing on the sidelines and throwing your hands up isn't protecting me—it's abandoning me." — Kimberly

"Just... just leave," — Kimberly

She clenched her fists, her frustration simmering. He kept disappointing her, over and over. The father she thought she knew was slipping further away, replaced by a man who seemed to care more about his own grudges than the people who mattered most. But none of that was important now. Right now, all she could do was wait—wait and hope.

Hermione sat next to her and Ron was also confined to bed next to Harry's bed, his injuries evident but thankfully minor. Kimberly stayed close, her eyes darting between them and Harry, who remained unconscious. The tension was suffocating, each second feeling like an eternity. Then, finally, Harry's eyes fluttered open.

Kimberly shot up from her chair and leaned over him. "Harry?" she whispered urgently.

Harry blinked a few times, his voice hoarse as he replied, "I saw my parents."
