Kimberly's footsteps echoed in the empty corridor as she made her way back to the Ravenclaw common room, her mind racing with the events of the night. The weight of the secret she was carrying pressed down on her chest, and the exhaustion from everything she had been through made each step feel heavier than the last.
She wasn't paying attention when she turned the corner and collided with something—no, someone. The sharp hiss of air left her as she staggered back, catching herself just before she fell.
"Watch where you're going, Kimberly."
Kimberly froze. The voice was unmistakable. She lifted her gaze to find none other than her father, Severus Snape, standing before her. His black cloak billowed around him, and his dark eyes pierced through the dim light of the corridor with a cold, assessing gaze.
"I... sorry, dad," Kimberly stammered, stepping back. Her heart pounded in her chest, a strange mix of fear and frustration stirring within her.
Snape's sharp gaze flickered over her, and his eyes narrowed as they landed on her arm, which she instinctively tried to cover with her sleeve. "What happened to your arm?" His voice was calm, but there was a faint edge to it that made Kimberly wince.
"It's nothing," Kimberly muttered, trying to brush it off. The scrape on her forearm was from earlier that night. She had barely had time to tend to it, and now she was doing her best to avoid Snape's scrutiny.
"Nothing?" Snape repeated, his voice growing colder. "I can see it's more than that."
Before she could protest further, Snape's sharp movements swept her up in a stern, silent command, turning on his heel and heading down the hallway toward his office. "Come with me," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Kimberly didn't follow immediately. She hesitated for a moment, but then her feet moved on their own, almost as if she couldn't stop herself. She trudged behind him, her heart sinking with every step. She had no desire to be in his office, let alone to deal with whatever lecture he was about to give her.
When they finally reached his office, Snape opened the door with a swift flick of his wand and ushered her inside. Kimberly hesitated before sitting down in one of the uncomfortable chairs by his desk. The room smelled faintly of potions, and the flickering fire cast long shadows across the stone walls.
Snape didn't waste any time. He went to his shelves and pulled down a small vial of healing potion, along with some gauze. He walked over to her, his eyes fixed on her wound.
"Let me see it," he ordered.
Kimberly reluctantly rolled up her sleeve and held out her arm. Snape's hands were clinical as he cleaned the wound with practiced precision, but there was an underlying tension in his movements.
