Chapter 19: Hidden figures
"Khun Pete, when did you give birth to this potential destroyer of palace order?" Pol asked in confusion.
As Pol recalled, Pete was still a Candidate for Empress. He hadn't yet married the Emperor. Why was there a child with a sweet smile that looked just like Pete?
Arm sighed, "there's no way this child was born from Khun Pete. I guess when this child was born, Khun Pete hadn't even reached maturity."
Five years ago, Pete's second gender was still unknown. Unlike an Alpha, whose gender is known from birth, Omegas and Betas only discover their second gender after a test at age 17 or older. Five years ago, Pete was only 15 years old!
Pete tried to remember if he had a child in a past life. Who could guarantee this child hadn't crossed worlds like Pete? But Pete clearly remembered being very single-too busy for love, let alone children.
He had focused on work in his youth and didn't have time to "sow any seeds."
Pete knelt down to match the little boy's height. "Little kid, who are your parents? Do they work in the palace?"
"Papa Pete! Pete Emerald Canis," the child replied with a sweet smile.
The more Pete looked, the more familiar the boy's smile seemed. There must be someone close to Pete who had a child, which is why the boy knew about him. Pete recognized that smile, especially the handsome face. This child was going to grow up to be someone who would break many Omegas' hearts.
Judging by his pheromones, this little guy was already an Alpha.
Lucky kid.
The kid seemed to really like Pete. He didn't look awkward as he hugged Pete's leg tightly.
Pol covered his mouth in disbelief. "He said his father is Khun Pete. Don't they look alike?"
This action was met with a tired eye-roll from Arm. They all knew Pete, and it was obvious the child had a reason for seeking him out. What's more, Pete already seemed close to the boy, especially when the child asked to be carried and Pete happily complied.
Oh well, Pete thought, finding a child who wanted to be his was better than having to actually produce one, let alone sleep with an Alpha. The Emperor didn't need to look for an heir anymore.
Hehe...
"Alright, let's go to your Daddy Emperor's place first. We'll ask him if he knows you or not."
Pete carried the child in his arms, with Arm and Pol following behind.
"Khun Pete, are you sure you want to take him to His Majesty?"
"Then what do you suggest? Am I supposed to put up this kid's picture in the town square with a sign that says, 'Anyone who thinks they know this kid, please report to the Emperor. For more info, contact: 00'? Of course, we have to investigate first."
For that, Pete needed Vegas's help. That man could definitely be relied on to track people down like this.

Vegas lifted his head as the door opened, revealing Pol holding it for Pete, and... a little boy?
Pete smiled sweetly as he set the child down. "Let's go say hello to Daddy Emperor."
