The trio walked the road, Maeve keeping her distance behind Billy and Agatha.
"You'll get a nosebleed trying that hard to read my mind." Agatha interrupted the silence. Maeve chuckled looking at the teen who had stopped.
"I'm not" Billy replied.
"Oh." Agatha laughed. Maeve caught up to the pair, looking between them.
"Okay. You just can ask us your questions. Aloud" she stated.
"Okay then. Wheres Rio?" Billy asked glancing at Maeve, Agatha caught Maeve's eyes before replying.
"Not that question. Any other queries for your old babysitters?" Agatha asked. "It's the whole reason you bought a ticket to ride, isn't it? We're your mom's ex best friends" Maeve scoffed making Billy raise an eyebrow.
"I'll get what I want at the end of the road, and she's not my mom, I have a mom" Billy replied, Maeve's gaze dropped to the floor, her heart sinking.
The trio carried on in silence, only hearing distant birds tweeting. Maeve knew where Rio was, but she wanted, she needed her here with her, she.. missed her.
"Is Wanda Maximoff really dead?"Billy broke the silence. Maeve tried hard not to listen in, she wanted to forget about Wanda, the woman who took her best friend away for three years.
"Yes" Agatha replied, a smug look on her face. Maeve scoffed, "no." Agatha chuckled catching Maeve's eyes, seeing the grief Maeve carried, blaming herself for Agatha's lost years. "Maybe" Agatha corrected, unsure of Wanda's whereabouts.
Maeve hurried her footsteps, placing herself infront of the two. She wanted to have some peace, to forget.
"Did you see a body?" Billy asked.
Maeve turned her head to him, a small stare making him a bit scared.
"Yes. I did." Agatha replied, Maeve's eyebrows furrowed.
"Did anybody else?" He questioned.
"It's hard to say" Agatha admitted, Maeve walked a bit faster than the pair, to get out of their conversation.
Pausing when she saw the next building. The two behind her quickly caught up, noticing the building.
It was a castle, it looked quite cool. Agatha sighed at the thought of the next trial.
"The road is a fickle mistress" she brought a hand up to her own hair, playing with a strand.
"More vague insight. Thank you"
"In my experience. What I."
"In your experience?" Billy cut Agatha off. "I honestly believed your experience would be the key to our success here." Maeve chuckled looking at Agatha's hurt expression.
"Maybe you should've researched a bit more" Maeve scoffed, walking towards the building.
Agatha smirked at the attitude and followed. Billy soon following after.
Maeve opened the gates to the castle, revealing the next trial, when she walked in, her attire changed.
She was dressed in a flowing white dress, with a tight red corset, she had a wand in her hand, the end was the shape of her amulet. Maeve chuckled as she saw Agatha change into the wicked witch of the west, earning a disapproving look from her.
"She's based off me you know"
Agatha took a minute to look Maeve up and down, admiring the features in her body that the corset brought out.
"Take a picture it will last longer." Maeve chuckled.
They looked around to find where Billy walked off to, finding him admiring himself in a nearby mirror.
"You seem pleased with your look." Agatha joked earning an elbow from Maeve to her ribs. "Hey."
"Well if the cheekbones fit.." Billy joked back.
"Do you think this is important?" Maeve diverted their attention from arguing. Pointing at the round tarot table infront of her.
"Your path winds out of time" Billy read from the side.
"It's tarot." Billy stated. "I know this, kind of"
"Maybe we should wait for Lilia?" Maeve suggested, getting a bad feeling about his trial.
But it was too late, Billy picked up the deck of tarot cards, and the nearby hourglass spun, releasing the sand slowly.
"I'll read for you, I guess." Billy directed to Agatha.
They both sat down, Maeve standing behind Agatha, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.. well it was more for herself than Agatha, she wanted to feel close to someone, so she didn't feel alone.
