Nani sat alone in the empty living room, the divorce papers clutched in his trembling hands. He had thought this was what he wanted—the chance to finally go back to Dew. But now, the silence weighed heavy, and the absence of Sky’s warmth left an ache he couldn’t ignore. The realization hit him hard, like a wave crashing over him, and his heart sank.

He didn’t want this. He didn’t want to lose Sky.

With a sudden urgency, Nani tore the divorce papers into shreds, letting them fall to the floor around him. Panic surged through him as he thought about Sky’s devastated face, his tear-filled eyes. Sky had given him an out, had offered him freedom, but Nani now realized that freedom meant losing the one person who had become his happiness. His chest tightened as he felt the weight of his own mistakes pressing down on him.

Without wasting another second, Nani bolted out of the house, determined to find Sky. He ran down the dimly lit street, his breath coming in shallow gasps as he desperately scanned the road ahead. Finally, he spotted Sky walking slowly, his figure hunched in the distance.

“Sky!” Nani called, his voice breaking. He ran to him, ignoring the curious glances from passersby. “Sky, wait!”

Sky stopped, turning slowly, his expression filled with heartbreak and confusion. “Nani… why are you here?”

Nani stopped in front of him, trying to catch his breath, his eyes pleading. “Sky… I need you to listen to me. I know I messed up. I… I didn’t realize how much I cared about you until I almost lost you.”

Sky’s brows furrowed, a flicker of hope and disbelief in his gaze. “But… Dew?”

Nani swallowed, gathering his words carefully. “I saw Dew tonight, yes. He wanted to talk, to see if we could get back together. But when he said he missed me… it felt empty. It didn’t feel the same. All I could think about was you, Sky.”

Sky’s eyes widened, a spark of something cautious but hopeful flickering within them.

“I told Dew that it was over,” Nani continued, his voice softening. “I told him I couldn’t be with him because… because I’d already fallen for someone else. For you.”

Sky’s breath hitched, his heart racing as he stared at Nani, waiting to hear more.

Nani took a step closer, his hand reaching for Sky’s cheek, brushing his thumb gently along the soft skin. “I love you, Sky,” he whispered, his eyes shining with sincerity. “I didn’t realize it until tonight, but I do. You’ve shown me nothing but kindness, patience, and warmth, and I… I don’t want to lose that. I don’t want to lose you.”

Sky felt his heart swell, emotions rushing through him as he took in Nani’s words. He had dreamed of this moment, but he had been too afraid to hope for it. Slowly, he lifted his hand to cover Nani’s, leaning into his touch.

“Do you really mean that?” Sky asked, his voice wavering. “You’re not just saying it because you feel guilty?”

Nani shook his head, his gaze unwavering. “I mean every word, Sky. I told Dew it was over, and he wasn’t happy, but I don’t care. I came home to tell you, only to find you ready to leave because you thought I wanted someone else. But it’s you, Sky. You’re the one I want.”

In a sudden burst of emotion, Nani leaned in, pressing his lips to Sky’s in a soft, lingering kiss. Sky melted into it, his heart soaring as he wrapped his arms around Nani, savoring the warmth and love he had longed for. When they finally pulled away, Sky looked up, his eyes shining with tears of joy.

“Nani, I love you too,” he whispered, a radiant smile breaking across his face. “I’ve loved you from the start. I didn’t think… I didn’t think you’d ever feel the same.”

Nani smiled, brushing a stray tear from Sky’s cheek. “I was foolish, Sky. But I see things clearly now. I want to be with you, truly. I want us to be happy, together.”

Sky nodded, his heart brimming with happiness as he pulled Nani into another embrace. In that moment, all the pain and doubt melted away, replaced by a shared understanding and the promise of a future filled with love.

As they walked back home hand in hand, both of them knew that this was the beginning of something real, something beautiful. The journey hadn’t been easy, but they were ready to face whatever came next—together.
