Sky and Nani sat across from Sky’s parents in the grand living room, the tension in the air palpable. They hadn’t expected to be summoned, and even less so to see Dew seated next to Sky’s father, a smug expression playing on his lips. Nani felt Sky stiffen beside him, his sunshine demeanor dimmed under the heavy glare of his parents.

“Explain this,” Sky’s mother demanded, sliding an envelope across the table. It contained pictures of Nani and Dew from their meeting at the restaurant. “Dew says you’re in love with him, Nani, and that you’re planning to divorce Sky soon. Is it true?”

Nani’s heart dropped. Before he could gather his thoughts, Sky straightened in his seat, his voice calm but firm.

“It was true once,” Sky admitted, meeting his mother’s piercing gaze. “Nani and Dew were in love before this marriage. But things have changed. Nani has fallen for me now, and I’ve fallen even deeper for him.”

Sky’s words were like a shield, protecting Nani in a way that made his heart ache. Before anyone could interrupt, Sky reached for Nani’s hand, squeezing it gently.

“Nani isn’t leaving me, and I’m not letting anyone take him away,” Sky declared, his voice steady but filled with emotion.

Nani found his voice, stepping forward to support Sky’s words. “It’s true,” he said, locking eyes with Sky’s parents. “When this marriage started, I was still holding onto my feelings for Dew. But… everything is different now. Sky taught me what it means to truly feel at peace, to be loved unconditionally. I didn’t have that before, not even with Dew.”

Sky’s mother frowned, her lips pursed in disapproval. “And what’s to stop you from changing your mind again? From breaking Sky’s heart?”

Nani’s chest tightened, but before he could answer, Sky rose from his seat, his hands planted firmly on the table.

“I trust him,” Sky said with a rare edge of defiance. “I know Nani won’t hurt me. And even if the entire world doubts him, I’ll stand by his side. He’s my husband, and I’ll protect what we have, no matter what.”

Nani’s heart skipped a beat. He’d never seen Sky so assertive, so fiercely protective.

“And Dew,” Sky continued, turning to the man who sat quietly through the exchange, his face dark with frustration. “Stay out of our lives. You had your chance, and you lost it. Nani is my husband now, and I won’t let you or anyone else mess with our marriage.”

Dew’s face twisted in anger, but he stood, muttering under his breath. “We’ll see how long this lasts.” With that, he stormed out of the room, leaving an awkward silence in his wake.

Sky’s parents exchanged a look before their expressions softened slightly.

“You really believe in him, don’t you?” his mother asked, her tone less accusatory.

“I do,” Sky said without hesitation. “And I’m not leaving him, no matter who tries to come between us.”

Sky’s father sighed, leaning back in his chair. “If that’s how you feel, we won’t interfere. But Nani,” he added, his voice stern, “don’t you dare betray our son’s trust.”

“I won’t,” Nani promised, his voice steady. “Sky means everything to me now.”

As they left the house, the tension began to lift. Nani reached for Sky’s hand, their fingers intertwining naturally. He pulled Sky to a stop under the streetlights, the faint glow illuminating Sky’s soft features.

“Sky,” Nani murmured, his voice filled with emotion. “Thank you for standing up for me in there. You’ve given me more than I ever deserved.”

Sky smiled, his eyes shining. “You’re worth it, Nani. I know you are.”

Overcome with emotion, Nani leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to Sky’s lips. It was slow, filled with gratitude, love, and the promise of a future together.

When they pulled away, Sky’s cheeks were flushed, and his sunshine smile had returned, brighter than ever.

“Let’s go home,” Nani whispered, lacing their fingers together once more.

For the first time, home truly felt like a place where they belonged—together.
