It had been three months since their first night together, and life for Sky and Nani had grown more harmonious with each passing day. Nani, however, had been feeling increasingly strange. The nausea hit him at odd hours, and he found himself more tired than usual. Brushing it off as stress or a mild stomach bug, he didn’t mention it to Sky—who was already busy juggling work and making sure Nani was happy. But when the symptoms persisted, Nani decided to visit a doctor, just in case.

Sitting in the clinic, Nani nervously tapped his foot on the floor, the sterile smell of antiseptic making him more uneasy. When the doctor returned with the results, her face was calm, but her words rocked Nani’s world.

“Congratulations, Nani. You’re pregnant.”

Nani blinked, staring at her as if she had just told him he had grown a second head. “I… What? That’s impossible! I’m a man.”

The doctor gave him a reassuring smile. “Yes, it’s rare, but some men are carriers. It’s a unique biological trait, and while it’s uncommon, it’s perfectly natural. You’re healthy, and so is the baby.”

The words hit Nani like a tidal wave. Pregnant? A baby? His mind raced with questions and doubts. Could Sky accept this? Would he think it was strange? Worse, would he leave? Nani’s hands trembled as he accepted the ultrasound photo the doctor handed him.

“You’ll need regular check-ups, but everything looks good so far,” the doctor said.

“Thank you,” Nani mumbled, his thoughts spiraling.

When Nani got home, he found Sky sprawled on the couch, grinning at some silly comedy on TV. Seeing Sky’s carefree expression only made Nani’s heart ache. How could he drop such a life-changing bombshell on Sky?

“Hey, you’re home early,” Sky said, sitting up and patting the seat beside him. “Come here.”

Nani mustered a weak smile and sat down, leaning into Sky’s embrace. His mind raced with thoughts of the tiny life growing inside him. Could he really tell Sky? What if he thought Nani was weird? What if Sky didn’t want a baby?

That night, Nani tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

The next evening, Nani’s best friend, Win, dropped by unannounced. Sky welcomed him warmly, and the three of them sat in the living room catching up. Win had always been the cheerful, easygoing type, but tonight there was a certain wistfulness in his tone.

“You know,” Win began, swirling the juice Sky had handed him, “I was the one who pushed you and Dew together, Nani.”

Nani stiffened slightly, but Win continued with a self-deprecating laugh.

“I thought I was so smart, playing matchmaker. I told myself you two were in love, just like I thought Bright and I were in love. Turns out, I was wrong on both counts. Bright never loved me, and you and Dew… you were just clinging to the idea of love because everyone around you was paired up.”

Nani gave him a small, understanding smile. “We all make mistakes, Win. You were just trying to help.”

Win sighed, leaning back. “I’m glad you found Sky, though. He loves you. Anyone can see it. Honestly, I’m a little jealous.”

Nani tilted his head. “Jealous?”

Win nodded, his expression bittersweet. “You have someone who truly loves you, Nani. Sky would never leave you, no matter what. You’re so lucky.”

Sky returned to the room at that moment, oblivious to the seriousness of their conversation. Win quickly changed the subject, but his words lingered in Nani’s mind long after he left.

That night, as Nani lay in bed beside a sleeping Sky, he stared at the ceiling, thinking about Win’s words. Sky loved him. Truly, deeply, unconditionally. Nani felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes. He was lucky—so incredibly lucky to have Sky.

He looked over at Sky’s peaceful face, his heart swelling with love. The fear he had been holding onto slowly began to melt away. Sky deserved to know, and Nani wanted to tell him in a way that reflected just how much he loved and trusted him.

The next morning, Nani began brainstorming. He wanted the moment to be perfect, something Sky would remember forever. As he jotted down ideas, he caught himself smiling. For the first time since hearing the news, he felt a spark of excitement.

He glanced at the ultrasound photo tucked safely in his wallet and whispered, “Sky’s going to be an amazing dad.”

Nani couldn’t wait to share this journey with the man who had become his everything.
