The next morning, Jungkook awoke to the sound of faint humming. Turning his head, he found Taehyung standing in the nursery, his hand resting on the edge of the crib.

“You’re up early,” Jungkook said softly, his voice breaking the peaceful silence.

Taehyung turned, a small, almost shy smile on his face. “I was just… checking the room. Making sure everything’s ready.”

Jungkook walked over, his belly making each step deliberate. “It’s beautiful,” he said, running his hand over the soft fabric of the crib’s bedding.

Taehyung nodded. “I want everything to be perfect for him.”

The tenderness in his voice was new, and it warmed Jungkook’s heart.

A Shared Moment

Later that day, Taehyung surprised Jungkook by joining him for a baby book reading session in the library. Jungkook had been flipping through pages on baby care when Taehyung appeared, a curious look on his face.

“What are you reading?” Taehyung asked, settling into the chair beside him.

“Just some tips on newborn care,” Jungkook replied, holding up the book.

To his surprise, Taehyung reached out and took the book, skimming through the pages. “Did you know newborns can only see about eight to twelve inches away when they’re born?”

Jungkook smiled. “No, I didn’t. But I guess that’s all they need to see their parents.”

For a moment, their eyes met, and an unspoken connection passed between them.

Taehyung’s Growing Excitement

As the days passed, Taehyung began to involve himself more in preparations for the baby. He insisted on personally overseeing the purchase of a state-of-the-art stroller, researched the best baby monitors, and even started attending parenting classes with Jungkook.

At one class, the instructor asked them to practice swaddling dolls. Taehyung approached the task with his usual precision, carefully wrapping the doll until it looked snug and secure.

“You’re a natural,” Jungkook teased, laughing at Taehyung’s intense concentration.

Taehyung smirked. “If I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it right.”

The First Kick Taehyung Feels

One evening, as they relaxed in the living room, Jungkook winced slightly and placed a hand on his belly.

“Is everything okay?” Taehyung asked, sitting up straighter.

“The baby’s kicking,” Jungkook said with a smile.

“Can I…?” Taehyung hesitated, his hand hovering awkwardly.

Jungkook nodded, guiding Taehyung’s hand to the right spot. A moment later, a strong kick made Taehyung’s eyes widen.

“He’s… strong,” Taehyung murmured, a rare smile softening his features.

Jungkook chuckled. “He takes after you.”

Taehyung didn’t respond, but his hand lingered on Jungkook’s belly, his expression filled with awe.

A Promise Made

That night, as they lay in bed, Taehyung spoke softly into the darkness.

“I don’t know if I’ll be a good father,” he admitted, his voice uncharacteristically vulnerable.

Jungkook turned to face him, his hand resting on Taehyung’s arm. “You will be. I’ve seen how much you care already.”

Taehyung was quiet for a moment before reaching out to hold Jungkook’s hand. “I’ll try. For him. And… for you.”

The words made Jungkook’s heart swell. For the first time, he felt like they were truly partners, working toward a shared future.

---

As the baby’s arrival drew closer, the distance between Taehyung and Jungkook continued to shrink. Taehyung’s walls were crumbling, and in their place, a bond was beginning to form—a bond that might just turn their marriage into something real.

For Jungkook, the journey was far from over, but he no longer felt like he was walking it alone.
