Chapter 12

The next few weeks, Alastor kept an eye on Lucifer, not wanting him to get kidnapped again. He didn't know why he cared so much about him in the first place, but he did. Lucifer seemed off today. He was unusually...sad looking, and avoided everyone for most of the day. "Hey, Char-Char! I'm going out for a little bit, alright?" He said to his daughter, trying to sound cheerful. "Ok! Where are you going-" before she could finish her sentence he had walked away. Alastor found this odd and decided to follow him

Lucifer then walked to a secluded area near a lake. Curious, Alastor kept following. Then he sat down on a broken down dock that had a beautiful view of the lake. Alastor wondered what he was doing before he started hearing--soft crying? He didn't know whether to approach Lucifer or not. Alastor walked up behind him. "Lucifer?" He said as he tilted his head. Lucifer wipped his head around, surprised to see Alastor standing there. Tears were streaming down his face and he looked like a mess. He turned back around and curled up his legs. "Great. Did you come here to humiliate me, or make me feel worse about myself?" He said, placing his head on his knees. Alastor sat down next to him. "Neither" he said. Lucifer didn't look at him. "Why are you crying? If you don't mind me asking." He asked with a tone of concern. Lucifer looked up at him with a tear stained face. "Why do you even care?" He asked. Alastor didn't know why, but he hated seeing Lucifer in such a disheveled state. "Well, because I-" He sighed. "I've been this disheveled state before to." Lucifer looked up at Alastor. Was he trying to--sympathize with him? If so, he wasn't doing a good job. He smiled slightly at the thought of it. Lucifer sighed. "Well, today is me and Lilith's anniversary. We always used to go here for it. We would watch the ducks cross the pond, and sometimes feed them." Lucifer's smile at the memory turned into a frown. "Just another reminder of how terrible of a husband and father I am." Alastor was silent for a moment before speaking. "You're not a terrible father, or husband because of a decision she made." He said. Lucifer had a suprised look on his face. Why was he trying to make him feel better? Alastor sighed. "I-I know what it's like to lose someone you love. My mother-" Alastor flinched at the painful memories that flooded his brain. "I was always loved my mother, but my shit-bag of a father would abuse her. He would hit her to the point where she could barely move. One day I came home and-" He flinched at the thought. "My mother had been beaten to death. And all that my father was doing, was laughing over her. Then I grabbed a knife and killed that woman abusing mother fucker." Lucifer just sat there silent for a moment. Alastor sighed. "Mabey if I had gotten there sooner, I could have saved her. Maybe-" Suddenly, Lucifer put his hand on Alastor's. "Don't blame yourself for something your father did." Alastor's face turned a red as he looked at Lucifer. "Thanks.." He mumbled. They both watched the sunset in silence.
"We should probably go back now, before Charlie gets worried." Alastor nodded. The dock was slippery, so when he tried to get up, he fell right on top of Alastor. They both froze. Alastor could feel Lucifer's warm breath on his face. They were nose to--well, nose to face. Lucifer leaned in and put his soft lips against Alastor's. Alastor froze. He didn't know whether to like it or hate it. Lucifer pulled away, realizing what he had done. Turning bright gold, he jumped back. "Oh my Satan! I-Im so sorry! I don't know what I was thinking-" He relizied that Alastor was frozen in place. Like a deer in headlights. "Uuuhh, Al? Alastor?" Alastor didn't move. "I'm deciphering whether I want to kill you or not." He looked at Lucifer, who chuckled at this comment. "...Can you do it again? Just to be sure." Lucifer smiled and pulled him closer for another kiss. This time, Alastor closed his eyes.
