The sun shone brightly over the palace courtyard as Jungkook hurried to the gates, his hanfu fluttering behind him. His heart was racing with excitement—it had been years since he last saw Seojun, his cousin and childhood confidant. The gates opened, and there stood Seojun, a tall and charming young man with a warm smile. Jungkook practically flew into his arms, wrapping him in a tight hug.
"Seojun! I missed you so much!" Jungkook exclaimed, his voice filled with joy.
Seojun laughed heartily, patting Jungkook’s back. "And I missed you, little one! Look at you, all grown up and married to the Crown Prince no less!"
Jungkook pulled back, his smile wide. "I have so much to tell you. Come, let’s sit and talk!"
But as they walked toward the garden, someone else was watching.

Taehyung’s POV
I stood on the balcony overlooking the courtyard, my arms crossed as I watched them.
Who is he? And why is he hugging Jungkook like that? Jungkook has never hugged me that tightly. And that smile—Jungkook looks so happy. Too happy.
My wife is married, does this guy not see the royal pin? And right in front of my salad?
They're laughing together now, leaning in close as if they're sharing secrets. I can't hear what they're saying, but I can feel the energy—light, easy, familiar. Too familiar.
I clenched my jaw, feeling an odd twist in my chest. It's not like I want to be that alpha, but who does this Seojun think he is? They’re practically flirting.
Jungkook’s hand brushes Seojun’s arm, and Seojun laughs again, leaning closer. My nails dig into the wooden railing. I don't want to be a cock blocker, but at this rate, I’ll have no choice.

Down in the garden, Jungkook was oblivious to the sharp gaze watching them. He was too busy catching up with Seojun, recounting stories of his life in the palace. Seojun listened intently, occasionally teasing Jungkook and earning playful swats in return.
Seojun smirked, leaning back on the bench. "So, Jungkook, does this perfect prince of yours treat you well? Or do I need to have a word with him?"
Jungkook laughed, shaking his head. "He treats me well, Seojun. Don't cause trouble."
"Good," Seojun said with a wink. "But you know I'll always have your back."

Taehyung’s POV
Oh, I can’t take this anymore.
By the time I reached the garden, my footsteps had grown heavier with each step. Jungkook looked up when I arrived, his eyes lighting up. "Taehyung!"
I forced a smile, but my eyes were on Seojun, who casually leaned back like he owned the place. "Ah, so you must be Seojun," I said, my tone cool but polite.
Seojun stood and bowed respectfully. "Your Highness, it’s an honor to meet you. Jungkook’s told me a lot about you."
I raised an eyebrow. "I hope only good things."
Seojun grinned. "Mostly."
Mostly? I clenched my fists behind my back.
Jungkook, sensing the tension, quickly stepped between us. "Seojun, let me show you the palace gardens. You’ll love the lotus pond!"
"Great idea," Seojun said, throwing me a carefree smile before following Jungkook.
As they walked away, I felt an uncharacteristic pang of insecurity. I trusted Jungkook, but Seojun’s presence stirred something primal in me.
I wasn’t jealous. Not at all. I was simply… being cautious. Yes, cautious.

Later That Evening
Dinner was a quiet affair, with Seojun joining us at the royal table. Jungkook, as always, looked radiant, chatting animatedly with Seojun while I remained mostly silent, observing.
Seojun was charming, I’d give him that. But his charm grated on my nerves when it was directed at my Jungkook.
By the time dessert was served, my patience was wearing thin.
"Seojun," I said, interrupting their laughter, "how long are you planning to stay in the palace?"
Seojun smiled innocently. "Not too long, Your Highness. I wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome."
I smirked. "Good. I’m sure you have other places to be."
Jungkook shot me a confused look, but I pretended not to notice.
After dinner, Jungkook approached me in our chambers. "Taehyung, was something wrong at dinner? You seemed... tense."
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "It’s nothing, Jungkook."
Jungkook frowned, stepping closer. "Taehyung, if something’s bothering you, you can tell me."
I looked at him, his soft features glowing in the candlelight. How could I explain the irrational possessiveness I felt every time Seojun so much as smiled at him?
"It’s just…" I hesitated, then blurted out, "Do you and Seojun have to be so close?"
Jungkook blinked in surprise. "Taehyung, he’s my cousin."
"I know," I muttered, feeling ridiculous. "But the way you two laugh and talk... it’s like you forget I’m even there."
Jungkook’s expression softened, and he stepped closer, placing a hand on my arm. "Taehyung, you’re my husband. No one could ever take your place."
I searched his eyes, finding only sincerity. Slowly, the tension in my chest eased.
"I’m sorry," I said quietly. "I just… I don’t like sharing you."
Jungkook smiled gently. "You don’t have to."
What I was even thinking writing omega verse as my first book 🥴😶
