Taehyung sighed as he leaned back against the cushions in their bedroom, finally enjoying a rare moment of peace. Jungkook, glowing as ever with his baby bump, had just fallen asleep beside him, snuggling into the blankets.
“Finally, a quiet night,” Taehyung whispered, closing his eyes.
But fate had other plans.
A soft groan broke the silence. Taehyung opened one eye to find Jungkook stirring.
“Alpha…” Jungkook mumbled, sit
ting up groggily.Taehyung tensed. “Please don’t say it. Please don’t—”
“I’m hungry.”
Taehyung exhaled deeply, mustering all the patience he had. “Alright, what do you want? Sweet or savory?”
Jungkook tilted his head in thought, his lips curling into a mischievous smile. “Both.”
“Both?” Taehyung asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I want steamed dumplings filled with spicy pork,” Jungkook began, his voice picking up excitement. “And then… sweet red bean soup. Oh! And I want them served together.”
“At the same time?” Taehyung asked in disbelief.
“Yes,” Jungkook said, pouting. “And don’t forget the sesame seeds. Lots of them.”
Within minutes, the palace kitchen was abuzz.
“The Queen Consort wants spicy pork dumplings and sweet soup? Together?” a cook asked, scratching his head.
“Do you want to explain why we failed to deliver?” another snapped.
Meanwhile, Taehyung paced the kitchen like a drill sergeant, ensuring everything was perfect. He was about to carry the tray back himself when a servant hesitated.
“Your Majesty, what if… what if he doesn’t like it?”
Taehyung froze. The servant had a point. Pregnancy cravings were unpredictable.
“Add some dried persimmons, just in case,” he ordered.
Jungkook’s face lit up when Taehyung returned with the tray. “You’re so fast, Alpha! Did you run?”
“Anything for you,” Taehyung muttered, setting the tray down.
Jungkook eagerly grabbed a dumpling and took a bite. He chewed slowly, his face thoughtful.
Taehyung held his breath.
“It’s… perfect!” Jungkook beamed, his doe eyes sparkling.
Relieved, Taehyung sat beside him, only to freeze when Jungkook offered him a spoonful of red bean soup.
“Try it!”
“Sweetheart, I don’t think—”
“Try. It.”
Reluctantly, Taehyung opened his mouth, wincing as the sugary soup clashed with the spicy dumpling he’d just eaten.
Jungkook giggled at his expression. “It’s good, isn’t it?”
“If by ‘good,’ you mean chaotic, then yes,” Taehyung replied, earning a playful smack on the arm.
Just as Taehyung thought the chaos was over, Jungkook looked up with wide eyes.
“Alpha…”
“Yes?”
“I think I want… fried seaweed rolls. And honey-glazed chicken. Together.”
Taehyung stared at him, slack-jawed. “It’s midnight!”
“The baby doesn’t care about time,” Jungkook said innocently, rubbing his belly.
Taehyung groaned but stood up, muttering, “I married you for better or worse, but this is definitely worse.”
“I heard that!” Jungkook called after him, laughing.
Two hours and multiple kitchen trips later, Jungkook finally leaned back against the headboard, sighing contentedly.
“Thank you, Alpha,” he murmured, his eyes heavy with sleep.
Taehyung slid into bed beside him, utterly exhausted but smiling. “You’re lucky I love you.”
Jungkook chuckled softly, resting his head on Taehyung’s shoulder. “I know.”
As the moonlight bathed their room, the baby kicked lightly, as if agreeing.
Taehyung placed a protective hand over Jungkook’s belly. “You, little one, owe me a lifetime of peace after this.”
But even as he complained, his heart was full. For all the chaos, nothing mattered more than the family they were building together.
Taehyung chuckled softly, finally feeling like he could rest. Jungkook was snuggled up against him, already half-asleep, and the baby had stopped kicking.
"Finally," Taehyung whispered, leaning his head back. "Maybe now I can—"
A soft mumble cut him off.
"Alpha…"
Taehyung stiffened. "No. No, no, no."
Jungkook stirred, opening his sleepy eyes to stare at him. "I think I want something."
Taehyung blinked. "You just had everything."
Jungkook sat up, rubbing his belly. "I know, but the baby’s still hungry."
“Hungry for what?” Taehyung asked warily.
Jungkook paused, looking deep in thought. Then he brightened. “Ice cream. With hot chili paste on top.”
Taehyung’s mouth dropped open. “What?”
“And some kimchi on the side,” Jungkook added, his tone innocent.
By the time Taehyung returned with the bizarre concoction, his nerves were frayed. “This better be it,” he grumbled, setting the tray down.
Jungkook beamed, digging in happily. “You’re the best, Alpha!”
Taehyung shook his head, watching Jungkook mix the ice cream and chili paste together with alarming enthusiasm. “You know, love, I didn’t think anything could surprise me after last night.”
“Oh, this is nothing,” Jungkook said between bites. “Wait until the baby makes me crave pickles dipped in chocolate or garlic soup at 3 a.m.”
Taehyung froze. “Please tell me you’re joking.”
Jungkook grinned mischievously. “You’ll see.”
The following days proved Jungkook right.
One evening, Taehyung found himself hunting for ripe mangoes in the palace gardens because, apparently, the ones in the kitchen weren’t sweet enough. Another night, Jungkook woke him up at dawn, claiming he needed steamed fish—and only from the river near their summer estate.
Taehyung, standing ankle-deep in water while palace guards fished around him, muttered, “This isn’t just a movie. It’s a whole saga.”
But even through the madness, every time he saw Jungkook’s bright smile, he couldn’t help but feel that it was all worth it.
For now, at least. The real “movie” was yet to come.
