The palace had long since adjusted to Jungkook's pregnancy routine—morning teas to soothe his nausea, midday naps that everyone tiptoed around, and evenings where Taehyung fussed over him like a mother hen. But nothing could have prepared anyone for the rollercoaster of Jungkook’s cravings.

It started innocently enough.

“Taehyung, I really want mangoes,” Jungkook had said one evening, sitting cross-legged on their shared bed, his hands resting on his growing belly.

“Mangoes? That’s easy.” Taehyung smiled, relieved at such a simple request. Within minutes, a tray of freshly sliced mangoes was presented to Jungkook.

Jungkook's face scrunched up. “Not these mangoes! I want mangoes from the southern orchards of Liancheng!”

Taehyung blinked. “That’s three days’ journey from here.”

“Well, the baby wants them,” Jungkook said with a pout, as if that settled the matter.

Without missing a beat, Taehyung stood. “I’ll send someone immediately.”

A week later, Jungkook’s cravings took a bizarre turn.

“Alpha,” Jungkook whined one afternoon, tugging at Taehyung’s sleeve.

“Yes, my love?” Taehyung said patiently, putting down the war reports he’d been reading.

“I want… steamed buns.”

Taehyung smiled, thinking it was another simple request. “Of course, I’ll have the kitchen prepare them.”

Jungkook shook his head furiously. “No! I want steamed buns filled with lotus paste and topped with crushed peanuts. But not just any peanuts—roasted peanuts from the eastern markets.”

Taehyung’s jaw slackened. “Eastern markets? That’s—”

“Two days’ ride,” Jungkook interrupted, his doe eyes shimmering with tears. “You don’t have to go, but the baby will be sad.”

Taehyung groaned inwardly but kissed Jungkook’s forehead. “The baby will get whatever it wants.”

One night, Taehyung was startled awake by frantic shuffling. He turned to see Jungkook pacing the room.

“Jungkook? What’s wrong? Are you in pain?”

Jungkook shook his head, looking sheepish. “I… I want something spicy. Like, really spicy.”

Taehyung sighed in relief. “Alright, I’ll have the kitchen whip something up.”

“No,” Jungkook said quickly. “I want spicy pickled radish pancakes.”

Taehyung blinked. “We don’t have pickled radish in the palace.”

“Then make some!”

“Now?” Taehyung groaned, glancing at the clock.

“Alpha…” Jungkook sniffled, his lips trembling.

Taehyung sighed in defeat. “Alright. Pickled radish pancakes, coming up.”

Two hours later, Taehyung returned to their room, exhausted but triumphant, carrying a plate of steaming hot pancakes. Jungkook took one bite, his nose wrinkling.

“These aren’t spicy enough,” he mumbled, setting the plate aside.

Taehyung buried his face in his hands.

Word of Jungkook’s cravings spread through the palace like wildfire. Servants and guards alike scrambled to fulfill his requests.

“Quick! Someone find those candied plums from the northern kingdom!”

“Boil the noodles! He said he wants them soft but not mushy!”

“Why are we short on fresh honeycombs? The baby needs them!”

Even Taehyung’s council members became unwitting participants.

“Your Majesty, we’ve gathered the documents you requested,” one advisor said during a meeting.

Taehyung glanced up distractedly. “Yes, yes, good. Now, does anyone here know where I can find chestnut dumplings?”

The pinnacle of chaos came when Jungkook demanded grilled fish… from the rivers of Hanok.

“Jungkook,” Taehyung said slowly, his hands gripping the table for support. “That’s a different kingdom.”

Jungkook looked unbothered, leaning back against a pile of cushions. “And?”

“And we just ended a war with them.”

“So? I’m sure they’ll understand. Tell them the baby wants fish.”

Taehyung pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re impossible.”

“You’re the one who put the baby in me,” Jungkook quipped, smirking.

Taehyung groaned, but deep down, he couldn’t help but smile.

One evening, after weeks of frantic cravings, Taehyung returned to their chambers to find Jungkook curled up on the bed with a tray of simple rice cakes.

“No outrageous demands tonight?” Taehyung teased, sitting beside him.

Jungkook chuckled softly, leaning his head against Taehyung’s shoulder. “No. The baby just wants you close tonight.”

Taehyung felt his heart swell. Wrapping an arm around Jungkook, he kissed the top of his head.

“I’d cross kingdoms for you and this baby, you know that, right?”

“I know,” Jungkook whispered. “And that’s why the baby and I love you so much.”

For the first time in weeks, the palace was peaceful. The future king, his omega, and their growing child rested together, blissfully content.
