"You should probably put a coat on, Kaiyo; you'll be cold."

The temperatures began to drop in New York. Adrianna wrapped her scarf tightly around her neck before hauling her boss's personal belongings down the jet's stairs, heading to the car waiting for them on the runway.

"I'm fine," Kiayo stated coldly, sliding her backpack onto her shoulders, quietly following behind. Once Adrianna reached the bottom of the steps, she turned to look back at the girl not much younger than her. Kaiyo wore a tight black top and baggy jeans that hung from her waist. She multitasked as she tied her long hair up into a bun. A small patch of her stomach peeked out as she stepped down each step with her hands in her hair. Kaiyo raised an eyebrow once she caught Adrianna staring.

"Don't you know staring is rude?" Kaiyo quickly huffed before pulling her shirt down to cover the exposed skin.

"Kaiyo, who taught you to talk like that? Apologize to Adrianna. Now." Elijah stood at the top of the steps with his arms crossed. Kaiyo looked back up at her father, perplexed. She was met with a smirk once she turned her gaze to Adrianna.

Kaiyo bit her tongue, swallowing her pride.

"Sorry," Kaiyo muttered, quickly shoulder-checking the women to escape to the car. Adrianna's smirk wiped off her face as she was aggressively pushed back.

"How rude." Adrianna spat in disgust. Elijah was quick to rush down the steps to check on his assistant.

"Are you okay? She's been such a brat recently." Elijah ranted as he fixed his assistant's scarf.

Kaiyo watched their interaction through the car window. She couldn't help but scoff at the sight.

Kaiyo had long suspected her father and his assistant were messing around. Each time she caught them interacting, her suspicion grew. She observed as Adrianna's cheeks grew red while her father's hand caressed her face.

Gross.

Sure, she wants her dad to be happy despite everything he's put her through, but why her? Kaiyo despised Adrianna and her fake kindness. In Kaiyos mind, being fake to someone's face the way Adrianna was to her was the most significant disrespect.

Kaiyo looked away, finally seeing enough. She looked down at her phone, scrolling through her random phone apps. She was never allowed to use social media, which didn't bother her much. Due to her line of work and never attending school, Kaiyo had no friends.

Well, she had one, but that was a long time ago.

Kaiyo's life revolved around what her father wanted and needed from her, and sometimes, it almost felt like her whole life's purpose.

Kaiyo allowed her fingers to move on their own. She clicked on Google and typed "Kyushu, Japan" into the search bar. Once she hit enter, many articles and pictures began to pop up. She scrolled mindlessly through the images generated with each swipe of her finger. Kaiyo was entranced by the beauty of the island she once lived on.

Then, an article caught her eye. It was labeled "Musutafu Japan gaining a bright talent from the island of Kyushu."

As she read on, she learned about a kid who grew up on the same island she did. She came to Musutafu to study, and during her time there, she saved hundreds of innocent lives from a villain attack in the city.

That got Kaiyo curious about Musutafu. As she typed out the location on Google, the car door swung open.

Adrianna entered the car, finally placing all the luggage in the free space next to Kaiyo. The girl's eye twitched as the luggage slowly slipped onto her. While Kaiyo pushed the luggage to lean against the door, her father and his assistant crawled into the seats before her. Elijah glided his hand over the button on his seat to quietly signal his personal driver to begin driving.
