     "It was inside a Griever."

"These are the same letters we get in our supplies." Newt stated, twirling the metal pipe in his hands, looking back up with knitted eyebrows to the group of Keeper's that found it. After returning back to the Glade, Ada ran to Newt with what they found and he set up a meeting between all the Glade's Keeper's in the town hall to go over their new bit of evidence. Ada had wiped the Griever slime off of it before the blond boy took it.

"Yeah." Thomas nodded, speaking for the group that went. Ada placed the tip of her thumb between her teeth, lightly nibbling on it — an action she usually performed when nervous. "Whoever put us here obviously made the Grievers. And this is the first real clue, the first anything, you've found in over three years, right, Minho, Ada?"

     "Right."

"Newt," Ada's soft tone coaxing the boy's name caused his head to crane towards her so he could peer at her with soft eyes. She let her thumb drop from her lips, instead crossing her arms over her chest to place them somewhere so she could speak. She nodded encouragingly to Thomas's words — whose lips twitched into a small smile when she stood by his side metaphorically. "We got to go back out there."

Thomas's eyes shifted back to Newt after lingering on Ada, nodding his head softly to her words, "Who knows where this might lead us?"

Thomas's eyes trailed over to Gally when Newt had to forcefully pull away his own from Ada's pleading doe eyes to the Keeper of the Builder's who had been listening with an opposed expression.

Gally rose his eyebrows, not convinced with Thomas nor Ada's motives right now, "You see what he's trying to do, right? First he breaks our rules, and then he takes to convince us to abandon them totally. What... The Rules are the only thing that have ever held us together. Why now are we questioning that?" He paused, knowing his next words were a sensitive subject. "If Alby was here, you know he'd agree with me. This Shank..." He gestured with his arm towards Thomas. "... needs to be punished."

Silence lingered in the air as Newt pressed his lips together in a thin line, handing the WCKD metal pipe over to Minho before Newt spoke, his expression remaining stoic, "You're right. Thomas broke the rules. One night in the pit and no food."

"Oh, come on, Newt!" Gally exclaimed with an expression filled with pure anger as he gestured widely with his arms and hands to object to Newt's verdict. "One night in the pit— you think that's gonna stop him from going into the maze?"
