We'll be fine

The cars circled the farm, their engines roaring as headlights cut through the night, illuminating the sea of walkers. Cass leaned out the car window alongside Glenn, firing at anything in their path, while Maggie gripped the wheel tightly, her knuckles white.

"Keep it steady!" Glenn shouted over the cacophony of gunshots, growls, and screeching tires.

"I'm trying!" Maggie yelled back, her voice shaking with frustration.

Cass grimaced as a shot missed its mark. "This isn't working!" She shouted, hoping they'd hear her over the chaos. "We're wasting ammo! There's too many of them!"

"Keep going while we can!" Glenn yelled back, his voice sharp with urgency.

Cass cursed under her breath but continued firing. Her gaze flicked toward the barn, now fully engulfed in flames, casting eerie shadows across the fields.

Maybe Rick and Shane lit it to draw the walkers away. Carl must be with them.

The click of her gun snapping empty sent a jolt of panic through her. She ducked back into the car, fumbling with her backpack for the spare ammunition she'd stashed earlier. As she dug through the bag, her eyes darted to the windshield, now smeared with gore, making it almost impossible to see the walkers still swarming ahead.

"Shit."

Abandoning her search, Cass lunged forward, grabbing the back of Glenn's pants and yanking him back inside the car.

"This isn't working!" She snapped, her voice trembling with both fear and anger.

Before Glenn could respond, Cass spotted T-Dog's truck veering off, its taillights disappearing into the darkness.

"Where the hell are they going?" She exclaimed, her frustration mounting.

"Should I follow them?" Maggie asked, her voice taut with panic as she glanced at Glenn for direction. Cass turned to him too, her trust in his quick thinking unwavering.

Glenn scanned the chaos outside before answering decisively. "Yeah. Swing it around! Come on, swing it around here!"

Maggie nodded, trying to turn the car, but her voice broke as she realized the path was blocked. "Oh my God. I can't get through!"

Cass's heart pounded as she scanned their surroundings. The house was cut off, walkers closing in on every side.

"Head out." Glenn said suddenly, his voice steady.

"What?!" Maggie and Cass exclaimed in unison, disbelief written on their faces.

"Get off the farm now." He ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Don't say that." Maggie pleaded, her voice cracking.

"Maggie, it's lost!" Glenn shot back, his words harsh but necessary.

Cass froze for a moment, her chest tight with dread. Glenn was right. The farm was overrun, there was no saving it.

She placed a hand on Maggie's shoulder, her own voice firm despite the lump in her throat. "He's right. We have to go."

"But the others... we can't leave them!" Maggie protested, tears streaming down her face.

"We won't help them if we're dead!" Cass countered, her anxiety bubbling over as her eyes darted to the walkers inching closer.

A walker suddenly leaped onto the windshield, its decayed face pressing against the glass. Maggie screamed, and Cass grabbed her arm, but Glenn's voice cut through the chaos with authority.
