Chapter 11 - A Legend Meets a Legend

So... I've read different things that said that Elvis met Marilyn Monroe or didn't. I'm guessing that they didn't meet since there would definitely be pictures of what would be Hollywood's most famous couple. There is a rumor that they met while Elvis was doing G.I. Blues, June 1960, and Marilyn came to say hello. In that story, they met, said hi, and nothing after. She was married at this time, and possibly pregnant, so Elvis wouldn't go after her. Plus, she was about a decade older than him, and we all know he went after younger women. Anyway, I'm adding her in this story since I think it would be fun to play off of that story of them meeting and maybe becoming friends. I honestly think they could learn from and help one another.

She was acting pretty strange. Maybe it was because filming was wrapping for G.I. Blues. Everyone was acting a bit strange come to think of it. I glanced up at the bright set lights hooked to the ceiling up there, the miniature versions of the spotlights that theaters use for stage productions. They were gleaming down on everyone bustling to ready one of the last scenes we had to film, which was actually the very ending scene of Tulsa asking Lily to marry him. Or more, she mentions it, and he readily agrees.

"You're gonna hurt your eyes if you keep staring up at those, EP," said Charlie as he stood next to me as I was in my uniform. I was eyeing Rainie, who just dropped a chair she was putting in place for the audience when Tulsa sings "Didja Ever." We had done that, but this was the same set. We were just doing the after scenes.

"You think people here are a bit out of it?" I asked, and Charlie looked around. "I mean more so than usual."

"I guess everyone's just really ready for this movie to be done. It was a lot of work for all of you, especially you, Mr. Leading Man." He nudged me, and I smirked. "Hey, have you and Rainie talked since that steamy kiss in the custodial closet? Man... what a scandalous place for something like that. They should put that in shows and movies."

No doubt directors and screenwriters would do such a thing. It really was a scandalous thing, and it happened to me. Yes, we were emotional, but... really, there was something else there, no matter what she said. I felt things during that kiss that I hadn't felt with a girl for a while. Anita was the last girl I felt them with, the kind of feeling that you love and scares you at the same time.

"I bet they will, Charlie," I said. "And, yeah... everyone's just tired. But Rainie... do you think she's actin' strange on account of me and what happened between us? She's been kinda loopy since it happened. Now even more so."

"Maybe, but if you ask me, something else happened that caused her to be like this. I don't know, though. You could be the reason. Just talk it out like adults. It ridiculous how you, her and the Colonel have been dancing around all this."

"Don't mention the Colonel. I'm still mad at 'im."

"He's your manager, EP. You have to talk to him at some point."

I shook my head. "Let's just not talk about it." Rainie was continuing putting chairs in place, and she sat down in one of them and put her face in her hands. My heart jumped in concern for her, and I took a step to go over there, but a lady who was an extra in an army uniform came and sat next to her. I couldn't hear what they were saying. "Poor girl. Yeah, you're right—I need to talk to 'er. All this is drivin' me and her nuts."

"Good idea."

The set was ready to go, and we got started with the filming. For these scenes, my baby friend would be making an appearance. I saw him and his momma over there on the side. These scenes were rehearsed before, we were just trying to get the winning shot. We came to the special scene...
