Well, it's the final chapter! Thank you all so much for reading the story! I hoped you liked it! Like I have said before, I'm writing in the pattern: Elvis story, normal fiction, Elvis story, normal fiction, etc. So, the next story I will post be a normal fiction. Or possibly a fan fiction of a book/movie/show. We'll see. It'll just not be an Elvis fic. I need to broaden my writing. Happy reading, my lovely readers! 😃

It finally happened—Colonel Tom Parker was no longer Elvis's manager anymore, and the whole country knew it. The headline was boldly printed on the front page of probably every newspaper in the country...
ELVIS PRESLEY'S MANAGER FORGFIERS MANAGEMENT or ELVIS PRESLEY'S MANAGER AN ILLEGAL ALIEN
My stomach was always feelings sick after I read that second headline on the front page of the paper at the beginning of August. I couldn't be there for my dad since I was heading back to Germany soon, which I didn't want to do right now, especially after this. Elvis, yes, he was a reason why I didn't want to go, but mostly so my dad had some support. The papers weren't kind to him and, therefore, the country wasn't either.
"I'm going to fly Mom over here," I told Dad as he was walking me to my suite after a chaotic twenty minutes in the hotel lobby since reporters wanted comments. Now, it was his turn to be pushed through a crowd. He was the one to usually push Elvis through. Said guy was busy recording an album at the RCA studio here in LA.
"No need for that," Dad said. "I put this on myself, so I'll face the consequences."
I sniffed as a spasm erupted out of my chest. Dad looked over at me as hot, stinging tears bleared my vision. We stopped when we were still a few doors down from my door, and I knew Dad had sad expression.
"I know you didn't want this to happen, but as they say, it's time to face the music," he said. "I'm so sorry, Rainie. But I'm glad that you're here."
"You're going to serve time, Dad," I managed as I looked over at him, arms folded tightly over my lavender-colored blouse. "You know that's what's going to happen after you see the judge on Friday."
He nodded, his expression pained. "I know, my girl."
"And that's why I want to get Mom over here—so we can have some family time before all this happens and before I go off back to Germany. Plus, Mom wants to be here for your trial. She wants to be a support like I will be."
I swiped a tear from my eye with my finger, and Dad suddenly pulled me into a hug which I returned. "I'm so grateful for that. But you and I both know that your mother isn't in good health. Traveling across the country would be strenuous for her."
"I know, and she does, too, but she's willing to do it."
He shook his head and chuckled. We both knew that once Mom made up her mind, then there was no going back. "Well, okay. I looked forward to all of us being together again. Now, goodnight, my girl. Tomorrow will be a new day."
We came out of our hug. "It will. Goodnight, Dad."
He turned and went on the other way, and I went on to my suite. At my door, I halted. I didn't want to turn in just yet. I should go and spend some time with Brenda. I needed to talk to her, just to get things off my chest regarding this situation with Dad and eventually leaving for Germany in a couple of weeks. Really, I knew I would ache to see Elvis again after I get on the plane.
I went on to Brenda's suite, and when I turned the corner, I saw her standing there in the hallway with Steve, the guy who was so nuts about her, and she knew it. I told her all about what happened at the party with him. He had been coming over here to see her since then, sometimes when he was still in his casino uniform.
