you took a small walk with Sage a few days later, to ease her mind of the guilt. the guilt she couldn't do anything about Eggman's death.

she felt more  reassured in your safety. she might also might admit she is growing attached to you. as she looked to you, walking, the same tiny effect where the red turned into light blue for a milisecond, happened. you just smiled, fighting the urge to hold her hand.

''do you feel any better?'' you asked her, seeing her smiling expression.

''maybe... i guess so'' Sage said. ''it is strange. i miss father. but... it hurts, knowing i couldn't do anything. the turtle had turned the death egg into a block. it was quick, two''

the mere mention of Eggman under her words made her look to the floor, sad.

''hey, is anything okay?'' you asked her.

''i guess. but i want to see father again'' Sage sighed. ''i'm happy for your company, but i miss the one who made me. i only hope the void is filled''

''sure. it will all be fine, do not worry'' you blushed, holding her.

it was just a pair of kids the same age. you wondered, was there more to this? was it requited?

who flipping knows?

but regardless, it's time to help her adapt, to a new life. one she will grow to understand. one she will grow to want to keep.

must be hard to live, isn't it?

after finishing walking, you just sat with her next to you, looking into the sky, just a glamourous, normal day.

the skies were all light blue. Sage looked to you, a small smile creeping up her mouth.

''thank you'' she said. holding your hand. she surprised you with a quick hug.

you blushed, at the contact, so you quickly hugged back, your heads together.

you resisted sniffing her hair, because that would be creepy. and that was a smart choice.

you instead left a small kiss on her cheek, which she was surprised by, but she took it anyway, and smiled.

''thank you so much...'' Sage smiled. ''i guess with you as my friend, life... will not be nowhere near as difficult without father as i thought.....''

you then said goodbye for now, just a small part, you would meet again later, that was so sure.

but there was more you thought of her as.... it was....

love
